Former Millersville Officer Indicted After TBI Investigation Uncovers Shocking Evidence

A former Millersville officer faces a misconduct charge after a state-led investigation uncovered serious violations of departmental protocol.

A former Millersville police officer is facing a charge of official misconduct following an investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

The case stems from a June 2025 incident involving then-officer Michael Singleton, 33, who was accused of engaging in inappropriate contact with a resident at her home. According to findings from TBI agents, Singleton failed to follow several key protocols during the encounter. He reportedly did not notify dispatch of his location, neglected to properly document the interaction, and did not activate his body-worn camera-violations that raise serious concerns about transparency and accountability.

The investigation was launched at the request of 18th Judicial District Attorney General Thomas Dean on June 26, 2025. After months of gathering evidence, the Sumner County Grand Jury handed down an indictment on February 3, 2026, formally charging Singleton with one count of official misconduct.

Singleton turned himself in to the Sumner County Jail on February 14 and was released on a $5,000 bond.

In response to the indictment, the Millersville Police Department issued a public statement acknowledging the incident and outlining its response. According to the department, an internal investigation was launched immediately upon learning of the allegations. The officer was swiftly removed from duty, and the District Attorney’s office was notified.

The department emphasized its commitment to "integrity, professionalism and accountability," stating that it remains focused on maintaining public trust while the case moves forward. The TBI will continue to lead the investigation, and further updates are expected as the legal process unfolds.
