Cam Ward didn’t leave any doubt about how he feels about the way the Tennessee Titans are being talked about right now.
After Sunday’s 26-3 loss to the previously winless Houston Texans, a reporter asked whether he was getting used to losing in Tennessee. Ward pushed back immediately, rejecting the label and pointing instead to a team still trying to build itself the right way.
“No, I’m not a loser,” Ward said, via a transcription from Pro Football Talk. “The record may say that we are that right now.
But at the end of the day, you’ve got to go through some stuff to try to get wins. And, I mean, we attack this each and every day.
But I mean, for that, no.
“If you’re able to look at everybody in our locker room’s track record, we’ve all won games at a high level. And we’re looking forward to doing that in the long run.”
The Titans are 0-5 heading into Week 6, and first-year head coach Robert Saleh’s group was flattened by Houston on Sunday. Tennessee’s offense never found a rhythm, and the numbers told the story: 130 total yards, just 3.2 yards per play, and only 57 rushing yards on 18 carries.
Ward’s afternoon was uneven. He finished 23 of 26 for 170 yards with one interception against the Texans.
Through five games this season, he has 896 passing yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions. As a starter in the league, the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft is now 2-15.
Still, it’s difficult to pin Tennessee’s problems on one player alone. Ward has not played at a high enough level to lift the offense, but the Titans have been overwhelmed across the board this season.
Next up is a road trip to face the 2-3 Indianapolis Colts in Week 6. On paper, Tennessee will be the underdog again.

Texans Win Came With A Strange Titans Moment Fans Couldn't Ignore
During Tennessees loss to the Houston Texans, the usual frustration of another defeat was joined by a much smaller, stranger scene that quickly caught the eye of fans watching online. Cornerback CorDale Flotts helmet became a talking point on social media as the Titans tried to keep up in a game that only added to an already rough start.
Flott also dealt with a chest injury that forced him off the field, and teammate Micah Robinson stepped in to take his place. It was the kind of offbeat moment that can get lost inside a lopsided loss, but for Tennessee it fit the larger picture all too well, with the Titans now sitting at five straight losses to open the season. Brian Daboll Is Already Testing Titans Fans Patience
Brian Daboll arrived as the Titans offensive coordinator with the hope that a new voice could help steady an attack that needed immediate direction, but the first month of the season has done little to calm anyone around the building. Tennessee is 0-5, and the offense has been stuck searching for rhythm, yardage and points as each week brings more frustration than progress.
Cam Wards early work under Daboll has only added to the unease. Compared with his rookie season, his yards per attempt and passer rating have gone backward, and the downfield production has been scarce, with few completions over 20 yards. Even a low-output showing against the Houston Texans fit the same pattern, leaving Titans fans waiting for signs that this pairing can turn into something more functional. [Read more 🡒]
Titans Fans Have Every Reason To Fear Where This Offense Is Headed
The Titans offense looked every bit as unsettled as the final score suggested in Sundays 26-3 loss to the Texans at Nissan Stadium. Cam Ward finished with 170 passing yards and an interception, and Tennessee never found the end zone after an opening field goal, leaving the home crowd with little reason to believe things were about to turn around.
Houstons defense, with Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson creating steady pressure, made life difficult for Ward from start to finish, while Kaimi Fairbairn kept adding points with four field goals. The loss also extended Tennessees run of divisional frustration to 11 straight, a stubborn streak that only deepens the concerns about where this offense is headed if the fixes do not come quickly.
