TCU's Brock Harding Earns Big 12 Honor After Beating Two Powerhouses

After a breakout week featuring clutch plays and standout stats, TCUs Brock Harding earns a spot among the Big 12s elite.

Brock Harding is starting to make some serious noise in the Big 12-and the rest of the country is beginning to take notice. The TCU point guard earned a spot in the Big 12’s Starting Five this week after a standout showing at the Rady Children’s Invitational, where he helped lead the Horned Frogs to wins over then-No. 10 Florida and Wisconsin.

Harding didn’t just show up-he took over. The Iowa transfer averaged 17.5 points, 8.5 assists, and added four rebounds and three steals across the two games, earning MVP honors for the tournament. It was the kind of performance that doesn’t just turn heads-it earns hardware.

Against Florida, Harding delivered his best game of the season at exactly the right time. He dropped 19 points, matched his career highs with 12 assists and five steals, and hit the go-ahead jumper with under a minute to play in what ended up being a tightly contested 84-80 win.

That’s a clutch gene you can’t teach. His ability to control the tempo, create for others, and still find his own shot in high-pressure moments was on full display.

He followed that up with a composed, efficient outing against Wisconsin-16 points, four boards, five assists-and helped TCU close out a 74-63 win that showed this team’s ability to handle different styles of play. What stands out with Harding is how he reads the floor-he’s always a step ahead, whether it’s threading a pass through traffic or timing a steal just right.

Through seven games this season, Harding is averaging 10 points, 6.1 assists, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.3 steals per game. Those numbers are solid, but they only tell part of the story. His impact goes beyond the box score-he’s becoming the engine that makes TCU go.

Harding joins a strong group in this week’s Big 12 Starting Five, which includes Iowa State’s Joshua Jefferson (Big 12 Player of the Week), Arizona State’s Moe Odum (Newcomer of the Week), Kansas’ Flory Bidunga, and Baylor’s Cameron Carr. That’s elite company, and Harding’s name belongs right there with them.

Next up for the Horned Frogs: a home matchup against Notre Dame this Friday at Schollmaier Arena. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+. If Harding keeps playing like this, expect the spotlight to keep getting brighter.
