TCU men’s basketball now knows the shape of its Big 12 road map for the 2026-27 season, and the league slate comes with a few notable quirks.
The biggest one: Baylor only shows up once on the schedule. TCU and Baylor have played twice as a protected rivalry since the conference brought in the Four Corner schools ahead of the 2024-25 academic year, but this time the Frogs will get the Bears just one time, in Fort Worth on Jan. 19.
TCU will also see Arizona State, BYU and Oklahoma State twice in conference play, while every other Big 12 opponent comes around once. That means the Frogs will only play each of the other Texas schools one time this season.
Their home conference schedule includes Arizona State, Texas Tech, Baylor, BYU, Colorado, Oklahoma State, Utah, Kansas and UCF. On the road, TCU will visit Houston, Cincinnati, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Arizona State, Arizona and BYU.
The Big 12 portion opens on the road at Houston on Sat., Jan. 2, before the Frogs return home for Arizona State on Tues., Jan. 5 and Texas Tech on Sat., Jan. 9.
From there, the month keeps moving quickly: at Cincinnati on Tues., Jan. 12, at Kansas State on Sat., Jan. 16, Baylor at home on Tues., Jan. 19, at Oklahoma State on Sat., Jan. 23, then BYU at home on Wed., Jan. 27 and Colorado at home on Sat., Jan.
February brings the second meetings with Arizona State and Oklahoma State, plus a trip to Arizona and another road game at BYU. The Frogs will host Utah on Tues., Feb.
16, Kansas on Wed., Feb. 24 and UCF on Sat., March 6. They’ll also hit the road for Iowa State on Sat., Feb. 27 and West Virginia on Wed., March 3.
TCU’s non-conference schedule, announced in late August, includes four games against Power 4 schools and Notre Dame, along with the Players Era Tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada.

TCU Just Landed A Local Lineman At A Fascinating Time
Gabriel Brooks made his college choice feel a lot more personal than procedural. The North Crowley senior offensive lineman has flipped his commitment from Stephen F. Austin to TCU for the 2027 recruiting class, a move that keeps the talented tackle closer to home while also giving him what he sees as a stronger fit on and off the field. For a local product heading into his final high school stretch, the appeal of staying in the Metroplex clearly carried weight alongside the academic and athletic opportunities in Fort Worth.
Brooks is set to continue at offensive tackle for the Frogs, but first he has a big North Crowley test in front of him with Duncanville coming up. It is the sort of moment that can sharpen a recruit's profile even more, especially when the spotlight is already on a player who has chosen to bet on himself at a bigger stage. TCU Still Has One Roster Question Before Big 12 Play
Jaden Craigs first start looked plenty comfortable, and TCU had little trouble rolling past Grambling State 63-7 behind four touchdown passes from the quarterback and a big day from tight end Kari Ashley, who caught seven balls for 119 yards and two scores. The Horned Frogs defense did its part too, allowing only 28 second-half yards and adding a pick six from Teon Parks in a game that let TCU get a clean look at a lot of things going into the next stretch.
There is still one job on the table before Big 12 play begins, though, and it sits on the special teams side. TCU returns star defensive back Jamel Johnson for its Sept. 19 matchup with Arkansas State at Amon G. Carter Stadium, but the kicker competition between Nate McCashland and Kyle Lemmermann is still unresolved, leaving one more decision for the staff to sort out while the rest of the roster settles in.
