TCU's women's team dons No. 40 jerseys as a tribute to their shared journey and focus on the crucial 40 minutes of gameplay ahead in March Madness.

TCU Horned Frogs Ready to Take on March Madness with Unity and Determination

As the TCU Horned Frogs gear up for their first March Madness showdown against UC San Diego, they're stepping onto the court with the weight of expectations and the wisdom of experience. Head coach Mark Campbell knows all too well that in postseason basketball, nothing is guaranteed beyond the 40 minutes on the clock.

Reflecting on their recent journey, Campbell noted, “We won eight straight to reach the Big 12 championship, but West Virginia reminded us how quickly things can change. That loss was a wake-up call, a reminder that every game is a fresh start.

This week, every practice jersey bore the number 40, symbolizing the 40 minutes we’re promised. We need to stay focused to earn more time on the court.”

Senior Marta Suárez, entering her second NCAA Tournament, echoed this mindset. “We’re confident and excited.

It’s March - everything resets to 0-0. Past wins and awards don’t count now.

It’s about going out there and winning, and I believe in this team’s ability to do just that.”

Campbell highlighted the advantage of having a seasoned squad. “We’ve been one of the oldest teams in the country for a couple of years now. These players grasp the stakes of March Madness and have big ambitions.”

Junior Donovyn Hunter emphasized the motivation to win for the seniors. “For me, it’s about playing for the seniors.

They’ve given so much, and it’s an honor to be part of their last journey. I want to give my all for them.”

Senior Taylor Bigby spoke about the team’s camaraderie. “We love playing for each other.

Whether it’s Marta’s, Liv’s, or Clara’s night, we celebrate each other’s successes. Our underclassmen support us, reminding us not to have regrets in our last ride.

The vibe in practice is focused and supportive.”

Suárez and star guard Olivia Miles both highlighted the team’s close bond. Miles shared, “We’ve been connected from day one.

To outsiders, it might seem different, but to us, it’s a tight-knit community. We support each other on and off the court.”

TCU will tip off against UC San Diego at 11 a.m. Friday at Schollmaier Arena, with the game broadcast on ESPN. The Horned Frogs are ready, united in their quest to make this March one to remember.
