TCU’s injury picture shifted again late Friday night, and the latest update gives the Horned Frogs a little more clarity heading into Saturday’s Big 12 opener against UCF.
The game kicks off at 2:30 CDT, with both teams coming in at 2-1 after wins last week. TCU handled Arkansas State 31-7, while UCF topped Georgia State 44-30. Another injury report is due two hours before kickoff.
For TCU, Jordan Dwyer and Jon Denman have moved from questionable to probable. Zach Chapman, who was questionable in the initial report released Wednesday night, is now out. Backup offensive lineman Ryan Hughes also shifted from probable to out after practicing this week.
That leaves the Frogs with nine players listed as out for Saturday. The full group includes offensive linemen Devan Robison and Creece Brister, receiver Cooper Reid, defensive lineman Perry Cole Jr., cornerback Deon Mays, linebacker Caleb Cortez, and kicker Kyle Lemmermann. Of those nine, only Lemmermann has seen game action.
The earlier week had Sonny Dykes saying Dwyer would play, while Chapman and Denman remained questionable.
UCF is dealing with its own list of absences. Leading tackler Lewis Carter remains out; he has a team-high 24 tackles through three games.
Receiver Duane Thomas Jr., who was listed as a starter entering the season, still has not played this year and is out again versus TCU. Starting right guard Owen Spell will miss a second straight game, and starting quarterback Alonza Barnett III is also out after sitting out last week against Georgia State.
