TCU made some noise in the January transfer portal, and one of the more intriguing pickups came in the form of wide receiver Jeremy Scott, a redshirt freshman out of South Alabama who brings both size and proven production to a Horned Frogs offense looking to reload.
Scott had no shortage of suitors-drawing interest from a who's who of programs including Georgia, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Washington, and Baylor-but ultimately chose Fort Worth as his next stop. And when you look at what TCU lost this offseason, his addition makes a lot of sense.
The departures of Eric McAlister and Joseph Manjack left a hole in the receiver room, particularly when it comes to physical, outside targets who can stretch the field. Scott fits that mold.
At 6-foot-3 and 208 pounds, he brings the kind of frame that defensive backs have to account for on every snap. But it’s not just about size-he’s already shown he can produce at the college level.
In 2025, Scott put together a quietly impressive season at South Alabama. He caught 24 passes for 417 yards and four touchdowns, but what really jumps out are the flashes of big-play potential.
He posted back-to-back 100-yard games against Georgia State and Louisiana-highlighted by a 3-catch, 121-yard performance in the former and a 6-catch, 102-yard outing in the latter. That kind of efficiency and explosiveness is exactly what TCU needs to re-establish a vertical threat in its offense.
According to 247Sports, Scott was ranked the No. 115 receiver in the transfer portal-not a headliner, but certainly a name to watch. Rankings aside, the tape and the numbers say this is a player with upside, especially in the right system.
Scott has been on campus for just over three weeks and is already immersed in the Frogs' offseason program. Early integration into the strength and conditioning regimen is key, but so is building chemistry with the quarterbacks and understanding the nuances of a new playbook. It’s clear that Scott is eager to make an impact, and he spoke with the media this week about his transition from South Alabama to TCU and what he hopes to bring to the field this fall.
While the full picture won’t come into focus until spring practices get underway, one thing’s certain-TCU didn’t just add depth with Jeremy Scott. They added a receiver with the tools to step in and contribute right away.
