One of the biggest names from TCU’s run to the 2022 national championship game is on the move again.
The New Orleans Saints waived running back Kendre Miller on Saturday, ending a stint that never really got off the ground for the former Horned Frogs standout. Miller led TCU with 1,399 rushing yards in 2022, but now he’ll have to clear 24-hour waivers before becoming a free agent.
If he goes unclaimed, he can sign with any team’s active roster or practice squad. If another club claims him, that team would need to keep him on its active roster.
Miller’s college production made him one of the most productive backs in TCU history. Over his Horned Frogs career, he piled up 2,410 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns, while adding 29 catches for 229 yards and another score. His 7.5 yards per carry as a sophomore in 2021 led the nation, and his career rushing total ranks 14th in program history and fourth among TCU backs who played only three seasons in Fort Worth.
He made an immediate splash as a junior, topping 100 rushing yards in seven games and finding the end zone in all but one outing. But his season ended with a right knee sprain in the Fiesta Bowl semifinal win over Michigan, where he left after just seven carries and then missed the national championship loss to Georgia.
The Mount Enterprise, Texas native was drafted by the Saints in the third round in 2023, but the NFL chapter never matched the college one. In four seasons, he ran for 656 yards and five touchdowns on 184 carries. He was in the final year of his rookie deal when the Saints told him they were moving on.
Miller’s availability has also been a major issue. In 2025, he suffered a Grade 3 ACL tear in his left knee in a Week 7 game against the Chicago Bears and missed the rest of the season. Over four years, he appeared in only 27 games.
When New Orleans drafted him, Miller was viewed as a complement to five-time Pro Bowl running back Alvin Kamara and, eventually, a possible successor. That plan never fully materialized. The Saints’ offseason addition of Travis Etienne further squeezed Miller’s path, and now he’s out of the picture.
His release also opened a roster spot for the Saints to activate rookie first-round pick Jordyn Tyson from injured reserve. The Allen, Texas native wide receiver is expected to make his season debut on Sunday after missing eight weeks with a hamstring injury suffered in the preseason.

TCU Keeps Showing It Can Compete But One Problem Wont Go Away
TCU kept finding ways to stay in the fight against Arizona, even with injuries forcing the offense to lean heavily on Jordan Dwyer and Kari Ashley. The Horned Frogs had to get creative to move the ball, and they still got useful snaps from freshman running back Amante Martin as they tried to piece together enough production to keep pace.
What kept undercutting the effort was the same kind of sloppiness that has already cost TCU too often this season. Mental mistakes and execution issues kept piling up, from quarterback struggles to drives that stalled at the wrong time, and a missed field goal after a false start wiped out a promising fourth-down setup only added to the frustration. The result was another game that showed TCU can compete, but also another one where the margin for error disappeared before the finish. [Read more 🡒]
