TCU’s march toward the 2026 season opener keeps rolling, and the latest stop on the Countdown to Kickoff lands on No. 37. That number belongs to former Horned Frog punter Ethan Perry, whose leg gave TCU a steady edge for four seasons.
Perry arrived in Fort Worth with a reputation as one of the top high school specialists in the country, and he backed it up right away. As a freshman, he won the starting job, picked up Freshman All-American honors from multiple outlets, and earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention after averaging 44.5 yards per punt. He also drilled 20 punts over 50 yards and placed 19 punts inside the 20.
That first-year average still stands out in the program record book. Perry’s 44.5 yards per punt ranked third in the Big 12 and was the second-best mark in TCU history behind Chris Becker’s 46.1 in 1986. It also checked in at 14th in the NCAA.
Perry kept delivering from there. Over 50 career games, he punted 273 times and piled up more than 11,000 yards, finishing with a career average of 40.7 yards per punt. By the time his TCU run was over, he had 44 punts over 50 yards and 106 punts downed inside the 20-yard line.
His junior season was especially sharp in the field-position game. Perry ranked eighth nationally with 45.3 percent of his punts - 29 of 64 - landing inside the opponent’s 20-yard line. He also helped TCU limit opponents to -9 punt return yards that season.

The former Horned Frogs guard was named the Big 12 Womens Athlete of the Year for the 2025-26 season, becoming the first TCU womens basketball player to earn the conference honor. It comes on top of a run that also included Big 12 Player of the Year, All-American recognition and the Bob Bowlsby Award, a stretch that has made her one of the defining figures in program history.
Miles rise has only continued since leaving Fort Worth. The No. 2 overall pick in the WNBA draft by the Minnesota Lynx has settled in quickly as a rookie, putting together a strong first season and earning a spot as an All-Star starter.
