TCU just made a significant move at quarterback, picking up Harvard grad transfer Jaden Craig out of the portal - and this one could pay off in a big way.
Craig, who has one year of eligibility left, brings both size and production to Fort Worth. At 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds, he’s got the physical tools you want in a Power Five signal-caller. But it’s what he did on the field over the last two seasons in the Ivy League that really turned heads.
In 2024, Craig put together a sharp campaign, completing 169 of 279 passes for 2,430 yards with 23 touchdowns and just three interceptions. That’s an average of 243 passing yards per game - solid, efficient, and mistake-free football. His performance earned him a spot as a Walter Payton Award finalist and Second Team All-Ivy League honors, and he followed it up with an even bigger 2025.
Last season, Craig took another step forward, completing 208 of 338 passes for 2,869 yards, 25 touchdowns, and seven picks. His best outing came in a statement win over Penn, where he lit it up for 390 yards and three touchdowns - no interceptions. That kind of game management and production is exactly what TCU has been looking for under center.
Now, Craig is settling into life with the Horned Frogs. He met with the media Tuesday and talked about everything from his journey out of high school to Harvard, to why he ultimately chose TCU, and how the transition has been so far.
It’s clear he’s embracing the challenge of stepping into a Power Five locker room. Getting to know his new teammates, learning the playbook, and adjusting to the speed of the game at this level - those are all part of the process.
But Craig’s mature approach and proven track record suggest he’s not just here to fill a roster spot. He’s here to compete.
For TCU, this is more than just a depth move. It’s a calculated bet on a quarterback who’s shown he can lead, protect the football, and make plays when it matters. The Frogs are hoping Craig’s experience and poise can bring stability to a position that’s been in flux in recent seasons.
There’s still work to be done before we know exactly how Craig will fit into TCU’s offensive plans, but if his Ivy League production is any indication, the Frogs may have just added a veteran presence capable of making an immediate impact.
