Jerry Jones' Brutal Warning Has Fans Talking

The Dallas Cowboys' bold move for Joey Porter Jr. could shake up the NFC East dynamics, with a crucial showdown against the Eagles looming.

The Cowboys have decided to swing big, and the move lands right in the middle of the Eagles’ path to another NFC East crown.

Dallas is finalizing a trade for Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr., according to The Ringer’s Tom Pelissero. ESPN’s Jane Slater reported that the deal sends a 2027 sixth-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick to Pittsburgh.

It’s a clear win-now play from a team that hasn’t exactly looked settled through the first three weeks. The Cowboys are 1-2 after a crushing loss to the Ravens in Week 3, when Dallas gave up a 27-yard catch with seconds left and then watched Baltimore finish the job with a game-winning 56-yard field goal.

Porter arrives as part of an effort to clean up a shaky secondary, but the contract piece matters too. He and the Steelers were unable to reach an agreement on a new extension, and there’s no guarantee he signs a new deal in Dallas.

The former Penn State standout is being added to a defense coached by first-year Cowboys defensive coordinator Christian Parker, who previously served as the Eagles’ DBs coach.

Porter, a 2023 second-round pick, has already built a reputation as one of the NFL’s better young corners. In three seasons with Pittsburgh, he put up 165 tackles, 31 passes defended and three interceptions.

He also did not play in the Steelers’ first three games of the 2026 season while dealing with a back injury, though the contract situation appears to have been part of the picture as well.

Dallas had already made a few smaller moves earlier in the week, signing defensive backs to the practice squad. This, obviously, is a much bigger statement. Jerry Jones has never been shy about making an in-season splash when he thinks the moment calls for it, and the Cowboys acquired All-Pro defensive tackle Quinnen Williams before last season’s trade deadline.

Still, Porter doesn’t solve everything. The Cowboys’ run defense has been the real sore spot, sitting second-worst in the NFL with 539 rushing yards allowed through three games.

For the Eagles, though, the message is simple: the team that has been the biggest threat in the division just got better. Dallas is trying to chase down Philadelphia for the NFC title and the automatic playoff berth that comes with it.

And the next chapter is already scheduled. The Eagles will head to Dallas for a Thanksgiving matchup.

TCU Faces A Bigger Question Than Expected Before No. 10 BYU

The first injury report of the week gave TCU a clearer picture heading into its matchup with No. 10 BYU, and it suggested the Frogs may have a little more availability than initially feared. Starting linebacker Max Carroll and backup offensive lineman Ryan Hughes were not listed, which points to a possible return for both, while the defense still carries a little uncertainty with defensive end Zach Chapman and Perry Cole Jr. showing up as questionable.

Chapman is the name to watch most closely on the defensive front, especially with Sonny Dykes indicating he expects him to play. Even with some encouraging signs on the report, TCU still has a few moving parts to sort through before facing a top-10 opponent, and the final availability picture could shape how the Frogs handle one of their biggest tests of the season. BYU Walks Into A TCU Crisis That Could Change Everything

TCU comes into the BYU game in a familiar but uneasy spot, with the Horned Frogs trying to steady a season that has been defined by offensive inconsistency and defensive discipline problems. Under Sonny Dykes, the flashes have been there, but so have the stretches that leave fans searching for answers and wondering why the same issues keep surfacing.

Around the program, the mood is more strained than celebratory, and that matters because this is the kind of stretch that can shape how a fan base views everything that follows. BYU arrives at a moment when patience is thin, frustration is obvious, and some supporters are already looking past the next kickoff to what kind of change, if any, might be coming for the program. TCU Just Entered An Early Recruiting Battle Worth Watching

TCU has added another name to its early recruiting board in Charles Egbo, a 2027 defensive lineman from Iowa Colony High School. After a conversation with Sonny Dykes, Egbo picked up a scholarship offer from the Horned Frogs, giving TCU a foothold with a young prospect whose recruitment is starting to draw more attention.

Egbo is still verbally committed to Texas State, but the offer from TCU, along with one from Houston, gives him more to consider as his profile grows. For the Horned Frogs, the next step is clear: keep building the relationship, keep tracking his development and see whether he emerges as a fit worth pushing harder for down the line. [Read more 🡒]
