Iowa State Lands TCU Transfer in Final Hours of Portal Window

Iowa State continues reshaping its offense with a late portal pickup as the Cyclones adjust to a new era under coach Jimmy Rogers.

Jimmy Rogers and the Iowa State Cyclones aren’t closing the book on the transfer portal just yet.

The latest addition? Former TCU wide receiver Jordyn Bailey, who officially signed with the Cyclones on Wednesday.

That marks portal win No. 46 for Rogers and his staff - a staggering number that speaks to just how aggressively this new regime is retooling the roster. Bailey is also the fifth wideout Iowa State has brought in since Matt Campbell’s departure, a clear sign that the Cyclones are prioritizing weapons on the perimeter as they reshape their offense.

And they’ll need them. With quarterback Rocco Becht following Campbell to Penn State earlier this offseason, Iowa State is in the midst of a full-scale offensive reset.

Finding the right quarterback is one thing - but surrounding him with reliable targets is just as critical. That’s where Bailey, and this wave of new pass-catchers, come in.

Bailey’s résumé offers some intriguing upside. A former four-star recruit out of Ryan High School in Denton, Texas, he played in all 12 games for TCU as a redshirt freshman in 2024.

While injuries sidelined him for parts of the 2025 season, he still managed to log catches in three games, including a two-catch, 30-yard outing against Houston. With two years of eligibility remaining, Bailey arrives in Ames looking for a fresh start - and a chance to earn meaningful reps in what’s quickly becoming a crowded, but competitive, receiver room.

He won’t be alone in that competition. Carter Pabst, a Wichita native who followed Rogers from Washington State, brings some production of his own to the table - nine catches for 168 yards and a touchdown as a freshman last fall.

Then there’s Omari Hayes, a transfer from Tulane, who posted 39 receptions for 515 yards and a score in 2025. Both figure to be in the mix for early playing time.

And the youth movement is well underway, too. Three-star receiver Malcom Watkins, out of Bakersfield, California, is already enrolled and on campus. Meanwhile, three more three-star prospects - tight ends Drew Byrd, Luke Galer, and Drake DeBaun (an Overland Park native) - are also expected to join the fold.

Put it all together, and you’ve got a Cyclones offense that’s undergoing a rapid transformation. Rogers and his staff aren’t just patching holes - they’re rebuilding the foundation. And with Bailey now in the mix, Iowa State adds another piece to what’s shaping up to be one of the more intriguing position battles in the Big 12 this offseason.
