Petco Park Gets Top Honor As Padres Flop Opener

Petco Park has once again been crowned the premier MLB destination, celebrated for its vibrant atmosphere and prime location amidst a sold-out opener.

Petco Park was the star of the show on Opening Day, earning the title of “the perfect ballpark” from USA Today’s For The Win. Despite the Padres’ tough 8-2 loss to the Detroit Tigers, the atmosphere at the downtown San Diego stadium was electric, with a sell-out crowd of 45,673 fans soaking in the ambiance.

For The Win took on the ambitious task of ranking all 30 MLB stadiums, evaluating them based on factors like atmosphere, design, location, amenities, food, and character.

Petco Park Shines, Tropicana Field Struggles

Petco Park snagged the top spot for the third time, praised for its prime downtown location and unique features. The stadium is seamlessly integrated into San Diego’s skyline, offering fans a community park that flows right into the outfield concourses. It’s not just a place to catch a game; it’s a destination with some of the best food and beer options in baseball.

On the flip side, Tropicana Field, home of the Tampa Bay Rays, found itself at the bottom of the list. The Rays have faced significant challenges with their home turf.

After Hurricane Milton damaged the stadium’s roof in 2024, the team spent the 2025 season at George M. Steinbrenner Field, the Yankees' spring training facility.

With repairs complete, the Rays are back, but Tropicana Field still struggles to impress.
