In a thrilling matchup against the Kraken, the Lightning found themselves in familiar territory, needing to rally from a two-goal deficit. Despite a slow start, Tampa Bay came alive, tying the score and dominating the latter part of the game. However, the effort fell short as they lost 4-3 in overtime, with Seattle’s Brandon Montour sealing the win with just over two minutes left in the extra period.
The Lightning showed their resilience, especially in the final two periods, outshooting the Kraken 26-11. After Bobby McMann's early second-period goal put Seattle up 3-1, Jake Guentzel sparked the comeback.
He scored on a breakaway, thanks to a brilliant stretch pass from defenseman Darren Raddysh, catching the Kraken during a line change. Guentzel's goal, his 33rd of the season, was a beauty, finding the top corner past goaltender Philipp Grubauer.
Momentum continued to swing in Tampa Bay's favor when Corey Perry capitalized on a power play. After Kraken defenseman Ryker Evans was penalized for cross-checking, Guentzel made a slick move, threading a backhand pass to an uncovered Perry, who tied the game.
Looking ahead, the Lightning face a crucial stretch with 10 of their remaining 11 games against Eastern Conference opponents. This includes a pivotal home game against the Nashville Predators, led by Steven Stamkos. With playoff spots on the line, every game is critical, starting with Saturday’s matchup against Ottawa at Benchmark International Arena.
