As the Lightning’s season keeps rolling, so does the development track for a few of their prospects spread across the hockey map. Some are in Finland, some are in Syracuse, and one has already made the jump to the NCAA. The early returns are a mixed bag, but there are a few encouraging signs worth watching.
Start with Benjamin Rautiainen, who is back home with Tapparra in Finland and has opened with two goals and two assists for four points in seven games. That’s a slower pace than the numbers he posted a year ago, when he put together an MVP-worthy season with 77 points in 59 games.
Even so, it’s still very early, and that kind of production doesn’t usually stay quiet for long. He’ll have the full season to build his profile, and because he didn’t make the NHL roster on opening night, he’s required to remain overseas until next season.
In Syracuse, Sam O’Reilly is getting his first taste of affiliated hockey and settling in without lighting up the league yet. Through six games with the Crunch, he has a goal and an assist for two points, and both were firsts for him in the AHL.
His first AHL goal came on October 18, 2026, when he scored on the power play with assists from Dylan Duke and Nick Abruzzese. The numbers aren’t eye-popping, but for a player in his first pro season, there’s a clear path here.
If he gets rolling sooner rather than later, he could put himself in the conversation for a shot with Tampa Bay, where center depth is always a useful commodity.
Dylan Duke has been the most productive of the Syracuse group so far. He’s already at a goal and three assists for four points in six games, and he set up O’Reilly’s first AHL goal.
Duke is the longest-tenured Lightning prospect in this group, and he’s building on a career season that saw him score 32 goals in 72 AHL games in 2025-26. At some point, the organization has to find out what he can do at the NHL level beyond his two-game look.
Then there’s Jack Pridham, now at the University of Denver after coming over from the Chicago Blackhawks in an offseason trade. He arrived with a big résumé from the Kitchener Rangers, where he put up 46 goals and 90 points last season.
In four NCAA games, he hasn’t scored yet, but he has picked up two assists. It’s still too early to draw any hard conclusions, and the expectation is that he’ll help the Pioneers chase another national championship.

Lightning Fans Just Got A Dylan Larkin Trade What-If
A fresh layer of intrigue has been added to the Dylan Larkin buzz, and Tampa Bay is now part of the conversation. According to a report from The Athletic, the Detroit Red Wings center has broadened the list of NHL teams he would consider, putting the Lightning in the mix as a possible landing spot if the situation ever moved from speculation to something more concrete.
For a Tampa Bay team that is always looking to stay in the contender lane, the fit is easy to imagine on paper. Larkin would bring another high-end center option into the picture, but any real pursuit would come with the usual complications of a player with his stature and market value, leaving plenty of questions about how realistic a move like this could actually be. Lightning Suddenly Have A Cirelli Problem They Cant Ignore
Anthony Cirellis night ended early against Vegas, and Tampa Bay immediately felt the ripple effect. He left after the second period in the win over the Golden Knights, though it was not clear when the injury happened, and his absence forced the Lightning to shuffle their forward group and lean more heavily on other centers for ice time.
For a team that has tried to keep its lines balanced, losing Cirelli even temporarily creates an obvious wrinkle. Tampa Bay may have to look internally for help, with Dominic James or Scott Sabourin among the forwards the club could activate to cover the opening while it waits for more clarity on Cirellis status. Kucherov Hit A Huge Lightning Milestone In Statement Win Over Vegas
Nikita Kucherov kept adding to his place in Lightning history on a night Tampa Bay needed a statement. He scored a goal and finished with three points as the Lightning took down the Vegas Golden Knights, giving the veteran winger another signature performance in a game with real weight for the team.
The bigger picture for Tampa Bay is what Kucherovs night meant in the record book, even if the milestone itself was only part of the story. Andrei Vasilevskiy also turned in a strong outing in net to backstop the win, giving the Lightning a performance that checked every box and left the franchise marker hanging over the night.
