Lightning Just Teased A Uniform Look Fans Will Instantly Recognize

Get a first look at the Tampa Bay Lightning's bold new Hometown Remix uniform that honors the spirit of the bay with striking sky blue accents.

The Lightning gave fans their first real look at the Hometown Remix uniform Tuesday morning when the team was back on the ice at Benchmark International Arena.

What showed up in practice was not the full jersey, but enough to read the design language. Players were already wearing the game pants, gloves and helmet, and the look points strongly in one direction: black as the main color, with sky blue returning in a supporting role.

The pants are black with a solid sky-blue lightning bolt running down the side. The gloves are black too, accented with sky blue and white. The helmets were black as well, with a sky-blue TGH sponsor logo and numbers that match the style used in last season’s Stadium Series game.

That’s why the early read on the jersey is pretty clear. The Hometown Remix top appears set to lean black, with the sky blue that surfaced in the Stadium Series look coming back as the secondary color.

The team also gave a clue earlier this month with an encoded social media message tied to the new jersey. Once decoded, it read: “Anchored in the Bay.” It’s still unclear whether that points toward the pirate shoulder patch logo used in the Stadium Series game, but the tease also included a lower hem interior trim inspired by the Bayshore Boulevard balustrade, one of Tampa’s signature visual markers.

The new Hometown Remix jersey also seems poised to take the place of the Lightning’s retired black third jersey, which featured the primary shoulder patch logo on the chest along with white, blue and gray striping.

Lightning May Have A Bottom Six Option Fans Need To Watch

A depth forward audition worth keeping an eye on is starting to pick up steam in Syracuse, where Jakob Pelletier helped the Crunch roll past Lehigh Valley 7-2. Pelletier, a 2019 first-round pick, was one of the nights standout performers and has begun to carve out a clearer case as a useful bottom-six option, something the Lightning can always use as they keep sorting through their organizational depth.

The early part of his season wasnt especially loud, but Pelletier now has seven points in nine games and is showing the kind of offensive touch that can make a player harder to ignore. He has already logged 91 NHL games and 29 points, so the track record is there to suggest he can contribute at the next level if the current momentum keeps building. [Read more 🡒]

Lightning Prospect Benjamin Rautiainen Has One Big Step Left

Benjamin Rautiainen already checked a lot of boxes this past season. The 21-year-old forward prospect in the Lightning system signed his entry-level deal, went to training camp and then went right back to Tappara after a standout year in Finland, where he helped power a championship run and forced Tampa Bay to pay attention to how quickly his game is moving.

What remains is the less glamorous part of the path, the part that usually decides whether a skilled scorer can really stick in North America. Rautiainen is still working on his defensive play and strength, and the organization could eventually bring him over on a try-out deal with Syracuse before the bigger question comes into focus: whether he is ready to push for an NHL roster spot in 2027-28. Lightning Just Sent A Clear Message About Cooper Flinton

The Lightnings minor-league shuffle sent a familiar message about where two depth forwards stand in the organizations plans. Cooper Flinton, who had been with the Syracuse Crunch, is now on his way to the Orlando Solar Bears, while the Crunch also made a separate move involving Shawn Element, another forward heading to Orlando as the calendar turns toward the next stretch of the season.

For Tampa Bay, these transactions are part of the ongoing churn that comes with managing a deep development pipeline and keeping players game-ready at the right level. Flintons recent playing history has put him in the spotlight, and Elements path has been worth watching as well, so the latest round of movement gives the Lightning another small but telling glimpse at how they are sorting out their forwards down the chain.
