The Tampa Bay Lightning are set to give their young talent an early stage when the 2026 Prospect Showcase opens in North Carolina later this month.
The team announced Tuesday that the three-day event will run Sept. 13-15 at Invisalign Arena in Morrisville, North Carolina. Tampa Bay will play prospect squads from the Carolina Hurricanes and Nashville Predators, with each club getting two games during the showcase.
For Lightning fans, the biggest draw will be the chance to see some of the organization’s most promising players in game action. Sam O’Reilly leads the group after a strong season in the Ontario Hockey League. The 20-year-old forward was named the OHL’s Most Outstanding Player after a standout 2025-26 campaign.
O’Reilly did not get a full run at Tampa Bay’s development camp in July because he was still working back from an injury, so this will be his first full chance to get into games.
Dylan Duke is another notable name on the roster. Tampa Bay picked him in the fourth round of the 2021 NHL Draft, and he already has NHL experience.
Duke made his NHL debut during the 2024-25 season and scored his first career goal on his first shot in a 6-3 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Feb. 8, 2025.
He’ll be trying to keep that momentum going as he continues to chase another opportunity with Tampa Bay.
The showcase format will feature three 20-minute periods, plus a five-minute three-on-three overtime period if needed. Every game will also end with a five-player shootout, no matter the score.
The event will also introduce Lightning fans to some of the team’s newest draft picks. That list includes 2026 second-round selection Oleg Kulebiakin, 2026 third-round pick Tomas Kralovic and 2025 fourth-round pick Benjamin Rautiainen.
Tampa Bay leaned on its Syracuse Crunch pipeline heavily last season, with injuries opening the door for younger players to step into NHL roles.
