A short video from the Washington Commanders has sparked some real concern around Rachaad White, who has now missed consecutive training camp practices because of an undisclosed injury.
White, who signed a one-year deal with Washington this offseason after four seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has been out of team sessions on August 18 and August 19. Head coach Dan Quinn is expected to give an official update on his status, but social media has already latched onto one possible explanation.
The video in question came from a Commanders post showing White taking part in the traditional ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to honor a former player. In the clip, White jumps into the air, slips on the water on the concrete, and runs out of frame after losing one of his slides. That sequence has led some online observers to wonder whether he may have tweaked something during the challenge.
It’s an unsettling development for Washington, especially with White having appeared healthy during a charitable team event on August 17 before disappearing from major team work over the next two days.
White arrived in Washington with a built-in connection, reuniting with quarterback Jayden Daniels, his close friend and former college teammate at Arizona State. But that partnership may have to wait, at least for now, as the Commanders sort through the injury situation.
White’s 2025 NFL regular season with the Buccaneers showed exactly why Washington wanted him. He logged 132 carries for 572 yards and 4 touchdowns, while also staying sharp as a receiver with 40 catches on 42 targets for 218 receiving yards.
