The Eagles continue to reshape their offensive identity, and the latest addition to the coaching staff is Josh Grizzard, who’s stepping in as the team’s new pass game coordinator. After bringing in Sean Mannion as offensive coordinator, Philadelphia is clearly focused on building a staff that blends fresh ideas with NFL experience-and Grizzard fits that mold.
At 35, Grizzard brings a unique blend of college and pro experience to the table. A native of Lizard Lick, North Carolina, he cut his teeth in coaching with stops at Yale and Duke, working his way up through the ranks before making the jump to the NFL in 2017 with the Miami Dolphins. He started there in an offensive quality control role, eventually working his way up to wide receivers coach-valuable experience that should serve him well in Philly’s evolving offense.
Grizzard’s most recent stop was in Tampa Bay, where he joined the Buccaneers in 2024 as their passing game coordinator. He was promoted to offensive coordinator for the 2025 season, a year that saw the Bucs finish 18th in scoring and 21st in total offense. That included ranking 21st in rushing and 20th in passing-numbers that don’t jump off the page, but also came in a season where Tampa dealt with its fair share of offensive inconsistency and personnel turnover.
Now, Grizzard heads to Philadelphia, where the Eagles are clearly looking to recalibrate after a season that fell short of expectations. With Mannion leading the offense and Grizzard taking charge of the passing game, the Eagles are banking on a fresh schematic approach and a more cohesive offensive vision.
Grizzard’s background in both collegiate and professional systems gives him a broad playbook to draw from. He’s worked with young quarterbacks, developed receiving corps, and now steps into a role where his ability to design and coordinate the aerial attack will be under the spotlight. For an Eagles team looking to get back to the top of the NFC, this hire is another piece in what’s shaping up to be a significant offensive overhaul.
It’s a new chapter in Philly-and Grizzard’s next challenge is helping turn potential into production.
