The Dolphins made a swap at wide receiver on Tuesday, bringing in Ryan Miller off waivers from the Giants and moving on from Tahj Washington.
Miami announced the move with a roster update that sent Miller to the team and waived Washington in the corresponding transaction.
Miller, 26, has already taken a winding path through the league. He entered the NFL with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Furman after the 2023 NFL Draft. Tampa Bay waived him at the end of the preseason, then brought him back on the practice squad.
The Buccaneers later signed Miller to a futures deal for the 2024 season, and after roster cuts he again landed on the practice squad before eventually getting promoted to the active roster.
His time in Tampa Bay ended in December 2025, when the Buccaneers waived him and the Giants claimed him. New York signed him to a one-year deal in April 2026, but waived him in August.
Last season, Miller played in 13 games for the Buccaneers and finished with two catches on four targets for 34 yards and a touchdown.
Washington’s stint in Miami was much shorter. The Dolphins drafted the 25-year-old out of USC with the No. 241 overall pick in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year, $3,665,396 rookie contract that included a $90,396 signing bonus.
In 2025, Washington appeared in six games for Miami and totaled three receptions on five targets for 37 yards. He did not score a touchdown.
