Bucs Stars Tristan Wirfs and Antoine Winfield Jr Earn Pro Bowl Honors

Despite early setbacks and stiff competition, two of Tampa Bays cornerstone defenders are headed to the Pro Bowl, reinforcing the teams growing legacy of elite talent on both sides of the ball.

Despite battling through injuries and missing the first three games of the season while recovering from knee surgery, Tristan Wirfs just keeps raising the bar. On Tuesday, the Bucs’ star tackle was named to his fifth Pro Bowl - a testament not only to his resilience but to the elite standard of play he’s managed to maintain since entering the league.

Wirfs has now earned a Pro Bowl nod in every season except his rookie year, and with this latest selection, he becomes the most decorated offensive lineman in Buccaneers history in terms of Pro Bowl appearances. That’s not just impressive - it’s historic. He also remains the only player in NFL history to earn first-team All-Pro honors at both right and left tackle, a rare versatility that underscores his value and dominance in the trenches.

But Wirfs won’t be the only Buccaneer heading to the Pro Bowl Games. Safety Antoine Winfield Jr. is back in the mix, earning his second career selection and his first since 2021.

He joins a short list of Bucs safeties with multiple Pro Bowl appearances - a group that includes franchise legend John Lynch. Winfield’s return is a reflection of the impact he's had on the back end of Tampa Bay’s defense, where his instincts, range, and physicality have made him one of the most complete safeties in the league.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield and cornerback Jamel Dean were also recognized, earning first-alternate status. While not officially on the Pro Bowl roster just yet, they’re next in line should any selected players drop out.

For Mayfield, it’s a continuation of the strong impression he’s made in his first two seasons with Tampa Bay. And if Dean gets the call, he’d become the first Bucs cornerback to make the Pro Bowl since Darrelle Revis in 2013 - a long gap that speaks to just how rare that honor has been at the position for this franchise.

This marks the second consecutive season - and the third in the last five years - that Tampa Bay will send at least one player from both sides of the ball to the Pro Bowl. It’s a sign that the Bucs, despite their ups and downs, continue to develop and showcase top-tier talent across the roster.

The Pro Bowl Games are set for Dec. 3, during the week leading up to Super Bowl 60. And while the format may have changed over the years, the honor still carries weight.

For Wirfs and Winfield, it’s another well-earned accolade. For Mayfield and Dean, it’s a recognition of their impact and a reminder that their names are firmly in the league-wide conversation.
