Bucs Climb Power Rankings Despite Key Player Departure

Despite key departures and modest free agency moves, the Bucs surprisingly climb the ranks, setting the stage for a pivotal season under Coach Bowles.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers might not have made a splash in free agency, but they've certainly added some intriguing new faces to their roster. Linebacker Alex Anzalone and running back Kenneth Gainwell are two of the standout additions, and with defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson also joining, the Bucs are bolstering a defense that's been a cornerstone for the team.

Despite the departure of longtime star wide receiver Mike Evans, Pete Prisco from CBS Sports sees the Bucs as holding their ground in the NFL landscape. In his latest power rankings, Prisco places Tampa Bay at 13th, sandwiched between the Ravens and the Cowboys.

Prisco notes, “They didn’t do a lot in free agency, but they did add nice pieces in linebacker Alex Anzalone and edge Al-Quadin Muhammad.” The focus, however, will be on health and performance in what’s shaping up to be a crucial season for head coach Todd Bowles.

Interestingly, the Bucs have climbed five spots in Prisco’s rankings since before free agency began. This is notable, especially considering the loss of Evans, a player who has been a defining figure for the franchise. While the post-Evans era might feel unfamiliar, the Bucs' offensive arsenal still has the potential to thrive, keeping fans hopeful for the season ahead.
