The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are bringing back one of their most popular looks in 2026, and they picked a fitting stage for it.
The team will wear its all-pewter Color Rush uniforms in Week 15 at home against the Saints, officially ending a two-season absence from the rotation. Tampa Bay introduced the alternate set as part of its 2020 redesign, and the pewter look had been worn at least once every season through 2023 before disappearing over the last two years.
That return had been hinted at all offseason, but now it’s confirmed.
The Bucs’ choice came as a bit of a surprise, since many expected that if the pewter uniforms came back for a regular-season game, it would be on the road. Tampa Bay has used the look away from home before, including against the Broncos in 2020, the Rams in 2021, and the Colts in 2023. Instead, the team is rolling them out in front of its own crowd for a matchup with a division opponent.
That only adds to the buzz. Fans have reacted strongly to the news, especially with the Saints coming to town in a game that could carry serious weight.
Last season’s NFC South race went all the way to Week 18, with three teams tied for first place, and the division looks even tougher in 2026 after a strong offseason from around the group. That makes Week 15 feel like more than just a uniform reveal.
The Buccaneers’ alternate plan for the season is now set. They’ll also wear their 1976 white throwbacks in Week 13 against the Chargers, which means the pewter uniforms are one of the two alternates Tampa Bay is allowed under NFL rules. The league permits four uniforms per season: the standard home and road sets, plus two alternates.
That rule also appears to shut the door on the orange creamsicle throwbacks for 2026. Tampa Bay has now locked in its two alternate jerseys, and the Bucco Bruce look is likely out unless the NFL changes its guidelines.
The creamsicles have been a struggle anyway. The Buccaneers are just 2-4 in the pewter uniforms, but that still beats the orange throwbacks, where they’ve dropped their last six games and haven’t won since 2009.
Even so, the pewter set has a strong following, and its return should land well with the fanbase. The all-pewter look is closely tied to the Buccaneers’ identity, and plenty of supporters have been waiting to see it back in the regular-season mix.
For Tampa Bay, bringing it back against New Orleans makes the decision even better. Week 15 now carries a little extra shine.
