Buccaneers Suddenly Have A Trade Deadline Tension Fans Can't Ignore

With the NFL trade deadline looming, speculation mounts over which Tampa Bay Buccaneers players could be on the move despite their recent win.

The Buccaneers’ 43-13 win over the Carolina Panthers changed the mood around Tampa Bay fast. What looked like a team that might be ready to start selling before the trade deadline suddenly looked like one that could wait and see. But even with that blowout win, ESPN still put three Buccaneers on its latest list of top trade candidates.

Yaya Diaby is the first name on the list, and the fourth-year edge rusher might be the most interesting one of the bunch. He just turned in his best performance of the season on Sunday, racking up three sacks, three tackles and three QB hits.

The timing matters, too. Diaby is heading toward free agency, and David Walker has made the most of his chances behind him, leading the entire league with a pass-rush win rate of 24.6%.

ESPN gave Diaby a 35% chance of being traded and pointed to the Browns, Seahawks and Cowboys as the best fits.

Chris Godwin is the other offensive name to watch. After battling through injury-plagued seasons, he entered 2026 healthy, but with Mike Evans gone, he has not yet settled into the steady role Tampa Bay was hoping for.

The source material makes clear that quarterback play and offensive scheme could be part of the issue, too. Still, ESPN included Godwin among its top 25 trade candidates and named the Chiefs and Commanders as possible landing spots.

NFL expert and analyst Matt Bowan wrote of Godwin’s market value: "Godwin has yet to top 50 receiving yards in a game this season, and his play speed is declining," he wrote. "However, he still has value as a slot target with outside flex.

He can use his coverage awareness to find open grass. And Godwin is willing to work the heavy traffic areas of the field on middle-of-the-field concepts."

ESPN’s trade probability for Godwin sits at 15%.

Then there’s Rakeem Nunez-Roches, who has quietly been one of Tampa Bay’s most valuable additions. The veteran defensive tackle has helped steady the run defense and leads the team with two interceptions. He has also become a respected locker-room presence, bringing energy and leadership every week with his aggressive style.

For teams trying to shore up the defensive trenches without paying the premium price attached to the top-tier interior linemen already moved by the 49ers and Bears, Robinson could make a lot of sense. ESPN gave him a 30% chance of being traded and listed the Rams, Ravens and Giants as possible suitors.

Whether Tampa Bay becomes a seller before the Nov. 10 deadline may come down to what happens next against the Atlanta Falcons. Another win could keep the Buccaneers on course to stay put and keep pushing in the standings. A loss would likely make the trade chatter around Diaby, Godwin and Robinson even louder.

Buccaneers Face Early Availability Questions Ahead Of Crucial Falcons Showdown

The first week of preparation for Atlanta opened with a mixed injury picture for Tampa Bay, and the early report offered both reassurance and a few familiar concerns. Baker Mayfield was a full participant, as was safety Antoine Winfield Jr., which is obviously the sort of development the Buccaneers want to see with a divisional matchup looming. Even so, the team still had three players open the week as non-participants and two others working on a limited basis, a reminder that the margin for error gets thinner in the NFC South this time of year.

Emeka Egbukas status stood out among the limited group as he continues to work through concussion and foot issues, while the broader report suggests Tampa Bay is still sorting through availability as the week unfolds. The Falcons had their own list of sidelined and limited players, so both sides are navigating the same late-October grind, but for the Buccaneers the focus now is on how much of the rotation can get back on the field before a game with real division stakes. Buccaneers Could Make One Deadline Swing To Fix Their Passing Game

The Buccaneers passing game has been a major concern through the 2026 season, and the lack of production has left Tampa Bay looking for answers before the trade deadline. With the offense sitting last in the league in that area, the front office is at least being linked to the possibility of adding a young receiver who could change the trajectory of the unit without forcing the team to wait for internal fixes.

One name that has surfaced is Jacksonvilles BTJ, a move that would fit the kind of aggressive swing Tampa Bay may need to consider if it wants to keep pace in the NFC. Any deal of that size would come at a real cost, which is why the speculation has centered on whether the Buccaneers are willing to pay for help now rather than hope the current group suddenly finds its footing. Buccaneers Suddenly Face A Vita Vea Decision Nobody Wanted

Chicagos bold move for Tennessee defensive tackle Jeffrey Simmons has added an unexpected layer to Tampa Bays week, because it puts the spotlight on what a premium interior defender can bring back in a trade. For the Buccaneers, that naturally drags Vita Vea into the conversation. He remains one of the more disruptive linemen on the roster, and any discussion about moving him starts with the reality that his market would look different from Simmons, both because of the return Chicago paid and because Tampa Bays own circumstances are far less stable right now.

The bigger issue is what the next stretch means for the Buccaneers direction at the deadline. If the team cant steady itself against Atlanta and Chicago, it could be forced into a more uncomfortable place than anyone around the building wanted, with the front office having to decide whether to hold tight or start listening on broader interest around the roster. Vea is the name at the center of that debate, but he may not be the only one if the losses keep stacking up. [Read more 🡒]
