Buccaneers Strengthen Defense Next to Vita Vea with Major Signing

Buccaneers bolster their defensive line with seasoned veteran A'Shawn Robinson in a strategic move to maintain rush defense dominance.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are making waves with a strategic move to bolster their defensive line. In a bid to provide Vita Vea with some much-needed support, the Bucs have signed A'Shawn Robinson to a one-year, fully guaranteed $10 million contract. This move marks a pay bump for Robinson, who was set to earn $8.5 million with the Carolina Panthers.

Robinson, a seasoned NFL veteran, brings a decade of experience to Tampa Bay. His journey through the league has seen him suit up for the Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Rams, New York Giants, and most recently, the Panthers. Known for his durability, Robinson has played in 16 or more games in four of the last five seasons, making him a reliable addition to the Bucs' roster.

At 31, Robinson is coming off a solid 2025-26 season, where he racked up 65 combined tackles, 21 of which were solo, alongside 2.5 sacks and a fumble recovery. His presence alongside Vita Vea is expected to fortify the Buccaneers' defensive line, adding stability and experience.

Tampa Bay's defense was already formidable, finishing last season with the fifth-ranked rush defense. Robinson's arrival is likely to enhance this strength, ensuring the Bucs remain a tough nut to crack on the ground. With hopes that further acquisitions will address other areas, Tampa Bay is clearly gearing up for a strong defensive showing in the upcoming season.
