Mike Evans could be on the move - and if he is, expect the phones to light up across NFL front offices.
According to recent reports, the veteran wide receiver is weighing his options as he approaches the end of his 12th season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Sources close to the team suggest it’s a true coin flip - a 50-50 shot - on whether the 31-year-old will re-sign with the franchise that drafted him back in 2014.
Evans has been a cornerstone of the Bucs’ offense for over a decade, a Super Bowl champion and one of the most consistent deep threats in the league. But the last couple of seasons haven’t been easy.
Injuries have taken their toll, and in 2025, he was limited to just eight games. In that span, he posted 30 catches for 368 yards and three touchdowns - numbers that, while respectable, fall short of the high bar he’s set throughout his career.
Still, even a slightly diminished Mike Evans is a weapon most teams would love to have. He’s a proven red-zone target, a physical presence on the outside, and a guy who knows what it takes to win in January and February.
That’s why teams like the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills are already being floated as potential landing spots. Both franchises are looking to bolster their receiving corps - and both could offer Evans a chance to chase another ring.
Evans reportedly wants to join a contender, and that mindset tracks. He’s done the heavy lifting in Tampa Bay, helped bring a Lombardi Trophy to the city, and now, at this stage of his career, he’s likely focused on legacy - and another shot at postseason glory.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Evans has flirted with leaving Tampa. Back in 2024, contract talks between him and the Bucs stalled, sparking a wave of trade rumors. He ultimately chose to play out the final year of his deal and later signed a two-year extension, turning down interest from the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans in the process.
Now, with that extension nearing its end, the decision looms again. Does he stay loyal to the team that drafted him, or does he seek a fresh start - and another title run - elsewhere?
And Evans isn’t the only wideout who could be on the move this offseason. Alec Pierce of the Indianapolis Colts is also entering free agency, and his future with the team remains uncertain. While Pierce doesn’t have the résumé of Evans, he’s a young, athletic receiver who could draw interest if the Colts don’t lock him up.
But Evans is the headline here. A player of his caliber hitting the open market - even with recent injury concerns - is bound to shake up the wide receiver landscape.
If he does decide to part ways with the Bucs, expect a competitive market to form quickly. Because when a Super Bowl-winning receiver with a decade of production becomes available, contenders take notice.
