Once the games started counting, though, the picture changed fast. Against the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns, Bain was quiet off the edge, and the early regular-season tape has left little to hang a positive spin on. That’s led some national analysts and fans to jump straight to the bust label and revive the old chatter about his short arms after he was hyped as the Second Coming before his first NFL regular season even began.
But the story around Bain is bigger than one rookie struggling to finish plays.
