Buccaneers Coach Josh Grizzard Lands New Role After One-Year Exit

After a rocky stint in Tampa Bay, Josh Grizzard quickly lands a fresh opportunity in Philadelphia as he looks to rebuild his reputation.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are once again in the market for a new offensive coordinator. Josh Grizzard, who held the role in 2025, is out after just one season - and already has his next gig lined up. Grizzard is heading to Philadelphia, where he’ll serve as the Eagles’ pass game coordinator under newly hired offensive coordinator Sean Mannion.

This move signals a fresh start for both parties. For the Bucs, it’s another chapter in a now-familiar story: a new OC every year.

But unlike his predecessors Dave Canales and Liam Coen - both of whom parlayed strong seasons into head coaching jobs - Grizzard’s one-year stint didn’t end in promotion. It ended in a pink slip.

Injuries certainly played a role in Tampa Bay’s offensive struggles last season, but even with those challenges, the unit failed to meet expectations. Grizzard stepped into the coordinator role with high hopes, especially after the success of the previous two play-callers in maximizing Baker Mayfield’s resurgence. But the production just wasn’t there, and the Bucs decided to move in a different direction.

Now, Grizzard gets a second chance in Philadelphia - and this time, he won’t be calling the shots as the primary play-caller. That responsibility falls to Mannion, who comes over from Green Bay, where he coached quarterbacks.

His hire raised some eyebrows, but the Eagles clearly see something they like. And bringing in Grizzard to help shape the passing game adds another layer of experience to the offensive brain trust.

For Grizzard, this is an opportunity to reset. He’s stepping into a role that allows him to focus on what he does best - designing and refining the aerial attack - without shouldering the full weight of the offense. It’s a smart fit, especially after a year in Tampa where things didn’t quite click.

As for the Buccaneers, they’re turning the page to Zac Robinson, hoping he can recapture the magic that Canales and Coen brought to the table. The bar is high, and the fanbase is ready for a return to offensive rhythm. If the Eagles continue to stumble on offense in 2026, though, don’t be surprised if some Bucs fans keep an eye on Grizzard’s impact in Philly - and breathe a little easier knowing they’ve moved on.
