Syracuse basketball’s fall recruiting push is already stretching across the country, and one of the next stops on the calendar is set for Thursday morning in New York.
Assistant coach Ben Lee is expected to be in attendance for 2028 four-star power forward Damian Mojica during an open gym at his high school, Inside the Loud House has learned. Mojica, a 6-foot-8, 225-pound prospect at The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., is ranked as a top-100 national player in the high school junior class and is part of the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council, or NEPSAC.
Mojica landed a scholarship offer from Syracuse’s new staff under first-year head coach Gerry McNamara in mid-July. He took an unofficial visit to Syracuse in late June, and the two sides have also discussed another unofficial visit to the Hill this winter so he can catch an SU game.
His offer list already runs deep. Along with Syracuse, Mojica has scholarship offers from Purdue, Oral Roberts, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Arkansas-Little Rock, East Carolina, Kennesaw State, Wake Forest and Oklahoma State. UConn has also recently reached out, according to Inside the Loud House.
Mojica’s stock got a boost this summer after a strong AAU run with the Bronx-based PSA Cardinals in Nike’s EYBL league. Playing for the 16U team, he averaged 15.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.
Syracuse has already offered roughly 15 prospects in the 2028 class, though every one of those recruitments is still in the early stages.
And Mojica is just one name on a growing list of prospects the Orange have watched since the fall recruiting period opened on September 9.
Inside the Loud House has reported on several 2027 and 2028 players Syracuse has seen at open gyms over the past two weeks, including 2027 five-star wing/small forward Moussa Kamissoko of the Spire Academy in Geneva, Ohio, who has already been to at least two open gyms and took an official visit to Syracuse earlier this month. The Orange also saw 2027 four-star wing/forward Ahmed Nur of CIA Bella Vista in Phoenix, who officially visited Syracuse in late August, and 2027 five-star point guard Nasir Anderson of Prolific Prep in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Among the 2028 names Syracuse has been tracking are five-star point guard Michai White, five-star center Bamba Touray, five-star wing/small forward Will Brunson, and five-star wings Isaiah Hamilton and Xavier Skipworth. White, Touray and Brunson all attend Prolific Prep or IMG Academy, while Hamilton and Skipworth are at Montverde Academy, all in Florida.
Syracuse was also recently in Chandler, Ariz., where one prospect to keep an eye on is 2028 four-star guard Darren Ford.
