Syracuse basketball’s target list wasted no time making noise in Las Vegas.
On the first day of Nike’s EYBL session in Sin City, a wave of Orange recruits across the 2027, 2028 and 2029 classes turned in strong showings, with several five-stars and other priority names helping their teams open with wins. College coaches, including Syracuse’s staff, are set to hit the AAU circuits on Thursday, but the action already started with a bang on Wednesday.
Here’s how the Syracuse basketball targets performed in the 17U and 16U divisions.
In the 17U division, New York City-based Renaissance Hoops knocked off the Indy Heat, 70-53, behind a big outing from 2028 five-star wing/small forward Will Brunson, who finished with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks. Teammate Caleb Ourigou, a 2027 four-star center, added 9 points, 12 rebounds, 1 steal and 3 blocks.
Baltimore-based Team Melo edged Overland Park, Kan.-based MoKan Elite, 61-60, with 2027 four-star power forward Ian Condon posting 18 points, 4 rebounds and 1 steal.
Charlotte, N.C.-based Team United also came through, beating St. Louis-based Bradley Beal Elite, 72-66. Five-star point guard King Gibson had 10 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal and 1 block, while 2027 four-star wing Markus Kerr delivered 18 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block.
The PSA Cardinals, based in the Bronx, N.Y., beat Dallas-based AB Elite, 78-71. For PSA, 2027 five-star wing/small forward Moussa Kamissoko had 15 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 block, while 2028 three-star wing Enmanuel Valera Melo finished with 2 points and 1 rebound.
Washington, D.C.-based Team Takeover took down Miami-based Nightrydas Elite, 57-50. J’Lon Lyons, a 2027 four-star point guard, put up 11 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals, while 2028 five-star wing Xavier Skipworth added 18 points and 4 rebounds. For the Nightrydas, 2027 five-star center Lewis Uvwo had 13 points, 11 rebounds and 3 blocks.
West Hempstead, N.Y.-based New York Lightning beat ProSkills, 69-47, with 2028 three-star guard Skye Ragoo scoring 10 points to go with 1 rebound, 2 assists and 1 steal.
Milwaukee-based Team Herro topped the Albany, N.Y.-based City Rocks, 74-57. For the City Rocks, 2028 five-star point guard Michai White had 6 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists.
The 16U division also featured several Syracuse targets making their mark.
Hampton, Va.-based Boo Williams beat Detroit-based The Family, 65-59, as 2028 four-star wing Isaiah Carter scored 17 points and grabbed 5 rebounds while adding 1 assist.
Philadelphia-based Team Final handled the Short Hills, N.J.-based New Jersey Scholars, 70-58. Five-star center Logan Chwastyk led the way with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks.
Team Final also got 12 points, 1 rebound and 2 steals from 2028 four-star combo guard Rowan Phillips, plus 5 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 steal from 2028 four-star combo guard Carter Smith. For the New Jersey Scholars, 2028 four-star wing Rezon Harris had 19 points and 3 rebounds.
Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Team CP3 rolled past West Hempstead, N.Y.-based New York Lightning, 76-39. Five-star wing Mason Collins finished with 12 points, 4 assists and 1 steal.
Toronto-based UPLAY Canada beat the Chicago-based Mac Irvin Fire, 92-63. For UPLAY, 2028 four-star forward Settimo Yugu had 7 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 block, while 2028 five-star point guard Liam Mitakaro posted 15 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals.
The Bronx, N.Y.-based PSA Cardinals were dominant in a 93-38 win over Powder Springs, Ga.-based AOT Elite. Damian Mojica, a 2028 three-star power forward, had 11 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 1 block. 2028 four-star point guard Malik Moore added 7 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals, while guard/wing Kingsley Rogers finished with 6 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 3 blocks. Kevin Wheatley Jr., a 2028 five-star wing, led PSA with 21 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals and 2 blocks.

Fran Browns Biggest Syracuse Fix Is About To Be Tested
Syracuse spent last season getting shoved around on defense, and the numbers told the story. Opponents averaged 5.27 yards per carry and 6.5 yards per play, a rough backdrop for a program trying to reset its identity, which is why Fran Brown and his staff spent the offseason reworking that side of the ball with several new faces on the defensive staff.
One of the most important additions is Vince Kehres, brought in from Toledo to help reshape the unit with an emphasis on effort, tackling and teamwork. Syracuses backcourt continues to take shape with another overseas addition, as the womens basketball program has signed French point guard Claine Ricco for the upcoming season. Ricco arrives with a steady international rsum and is in the middle of representing France at the under-20 EuroBasket Tournament, where she has remained part of the national team pipeline after previous runs with Frances under-18 and under-19 squads.
For Syracuse, the move fits an offseason that has leaned heavily on players with international ties while the roster still has room to grow. The Orange currently list 13 players, and with SMU transfer Tyi Skinner expected to be the lead option at point guard, Ricco looks like another piece in a backcourt picture that is still coming into focus.
