Syracuse basketball keeps pushing hard on 2027 four-star wing/forward Ahmed Nur, and the latest check-in came on the open-gym trail.
Orange assistant Ben Lee recently visited Nur at CIA Bella Vista in Phoenix, a source confirmed to Inside the Loud House. The 6-foot-9, 190-pound Nur is a major name for Syracuse in the 2027 class, and the staff’s interest is easy to track: he’s one of three top priorities for the Orange, alongside five-star wing/small forward Moussa Kamissoko and five-star point guard Nasir Anderson.
Nur already made his way to Central New York for an official visit in late August, and Syracuse came away feeling good about where things stand. His trip to the Hill was viewed positively, and the Orange believe it remains in a strong position in his recruitment.
Ranked inside the top 30 nationally in the high school senior class by several recruiting services, Nur has also been busy on the grassroots circuit. During the latest AAU season, he played for the 17U team of Milwaukee-based Power 5 in the Adidas 3SSB league.
Now, his path will include another high-profile setting. Nur is expected to play for the City Reapers in Atlanta-based Overtime Elite as a senior, joining a group that includes CIA Bella Vista teammates Isaiah Clarke, Paul Osaruyi and Mamadou Issa Sow.
Clarke is a 2028 four-star forward, Osaruyi is a 2027 five-star center, and Sow is a 2029 four-star center who previously held a scholarship offer from the former Syracuse staff under then-head coach Adrian Autry. Osaruyi also received an offer from that Autry-led Orange staff.
CIA Bella Vista has become a familiar stop for Syracuse, too. Along with Nur, the Orange has offered scholarships to three more players from the program in the 2028 class: four-star forward Isaiah Clarke, five-star point guard Liam Mitakaro and four-star forward Settimo Yugu.
Bella Vista won the high school national championship this past season, and high school hoops experts have told Inside the Loud House that the Bears are expected to be a serious contender again in 2026-27, with a chance to earn an invite to Chipotle Nationals in Fishers, Ind. and possibly win it.
Syracuse’s 2027 board is already taking shape. Nur is one of the staff’s three priority targets in that class, and the Orange already has one verbal commitment there from Albany, N.Y., three-star wing Jack Donohue.
Nur wasn’t the only Syracuse recruit linked to Overtime Elite this upcoming season. Five-star point guard Tai Bell, a 2028 target who has unofficially visited Syracuse and wants to return at some point, will play for the Cold Hearts. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Bell will also spend the 2026-27 campaign at Miami powerhouse Christopher Columbus High School.
Another 2028 recruit, four-star guard Ka'Shawn Gill, is also headed to OTE. Syracuse offered Gill in July.

Syracuse enters a short week at 1-1, with a Thursday night trip to Pittsburgh already waiting as the next chance to steady the season. Justus Ross-Simmons Finally Played But Syracuse Still Has A Worry
Justus Ross-Simmons ended up in uniform for Syracuse against Cal after a wild, last-minute legal turn restored his eligibility just hours before kickoff. He had initially been ruled ineligible because of his removal from a lawsuit in Texas, but an Onondaga County judge granted a temporary restraining order that allowed him to suit up, and he responded with six catches for 105 yards in his first collegiate game in 322 days.
The larger concern for Syracuse is that the matter is far from settled. Ross-Simmons remains under review, with a hearing scheduled for September 30, which means the Orange are still waiting for a longer-term answer on a player who could matter a lot to the offense if he stays available. Ben Lees trip to AZ Compass Preps Pro Day gave Syracuse another look at one of the countrys deeper prep powers, and the Orange appear to be keeping close tabs on a program that keeps producing college-ready talent. The Chandler, Arizona school has become a national destination, and Syracuses coaching staff is said to be evaluating multiple players there as it continues to build its board out West.
Among the names drawing attention is 2028 four-star guard Darren Ford, a prospect whose long-term upside fits the kind of recruiting work the Orange have been doing on the trail. No official scholarship offers have been confirmed yet, but the interest is notable, especially with AZ Compass Prep viewed as a strong contender for the upcoming high school national championship.
