National Signing Day: Syracuse Adds Versatile Tight End Carter Bashir to 2025 Class
Syracuse has added a key piece to its 2025 recruiting class in Carter Bashir, a tight end out of Neumann Goretti High School in Pennsylvania. At 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, Bashir brings a blend of size, athleticism, and versatility that could make him a valuable asset in multiple phases of the game.
While Bashir may not have been a household name nationally - rated as a 3-star prospect and ranked No. 103 among tight ends in the 247Sports Composite - his recruitment tells a story of a late riser with intriguing upside. Despite holding offers from Power Five programs like Miami, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Boston College, and Duke, it was Syracuse that ultimately won out.
The Orange entered the picture relatively late, but made a strong impression during his official visit. Just a week after that trip to campus, Bashir shut down his recruitment and committed to SU.
What makes Bashir stand out isn’t just his frame or the fact that he fits the mold of a modern tight end - it’s how he moves and how he competes. On offense, he’s a fluid route-runner with soft hands and the ability to create mismatches against linebackers and safeties.
But what really jumps off the tape is his defensive production. Bashir tallied 44 tackles, five sacks, and 11 tackles for loss in high school - numbers that speak to his motor, toughness, and football instincts.
That two-way ability hints at a player who’s not just athletic, but wired to compete. Whether he sticks strictly to tight end at the next level or gets looks on special teams or defense, Bashir brings a physical edge and a team-first mentality that coaches love to build around.
For Syracuse, this is the kind of under-the-radar pickup that could pay dividends. Bashir may not have the national ranking of some of his peers, but his versatility and work ethic give him a chance to carve out a role early. He fits the profile of a developmental player with the tools to grow into something more - and in a conference where physicality and adaptability matter, that’s a win.
