Syracuse basketball’s 2027 recruiting push keeps moving, and one of its biggest targets has now wrapped up a key step in the process.
Five-star wing/forward Ahmed Nur, a Minnesota native, completed his official visit to Syracuse, giving the Orange another chance to make a strong impression on a priority prospect in the class. Nur’s trip to Central New York was originally set to start Friday, Aug. 28, but a source confirmed to Inside the Loud House that he moved the visit up to Wednesday, Aug. 26.
The 6-foot-9, 190-pound Nur has been on the radar for a while, but his stock took off in June when he earned MVP honors at the prestigious NBPA Top 100 Camp in Rock Hill, S.C. Syracuse coach Gerry McNamara was among the college coaches in attendance, and the Orange offered Nur a scholarship around that same time.
If his Instagram posts were any clue, the visit went smoothly. Nur shared photos from the trip, and the comments section filled with encouragement from familiar Syracuse names, including SU legend Carmelo Anthony, who wrote, “Lets go champ!!!” Syracuse junior guard/wing Gavin Doty also chimed in with “yesss.”
Nur’s visit list is already taking shape. He has officially visited Ole Miss and Purdue, taken an unofficial visit to in-state Minnesota, and is scheduled to officially visit Texas beginning Sept. 4.
A former standout at Hopkins High School in Minnetonka, Minn., Nur will spend his senior season at CIA Bella Vista in Phoenix. The program is part of the 15-team Nike Elite Youth Basketball League Scholastic (“EYBL Scholastic”) and won the Chipotle Nationals in Fishers, Ind., this past April.
That move puts Nur on a loaded roster, and expectations are high for CIA Bella Vista heading into the 2026-27 season. McNamara and his staff have also offered three 2028 prospects who will suit up for the Bears this year.
The national rankings back up Nur’s profile. Rivals and 247Sports both have him inside the top 30 in the 2027 class, while ESPN slots him at No. 19 overall.
On the grassroots circuit this spring and summer, Nur played for the Milwaukee-based Power 5’s 17U team on the Adidas 3SSB circuit. He averaged 12.9 points and 5.3 rebounds per game and knocked down nearly two 3-pointers per contest.
Nur is the latest major 2027 target to move through Syracuse’s recruiting pipeline, and more visits are on deck. Five-star wing/forward Moussa Kamissoko, who recently transferred to the Spire Academy in Geneva, Ohio, is set to officially visit Syracuse from Sept. 3 to Sept. 4.
Five-star point guard Nasir Anderson of Prolific Prep in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., recently included Syracuse in his top 10, though he has not lined up official visits yet. The Orange is also in the top 10 for five-star combo guard King Gibson, the top seven for four-star guard Devin Cleveland and the top five for four-star wing Carson Crawford. Whether any of those three make it to the Hill remains to be seen.

It gives the offense another piece to work with as the staff turns from camp installation to actual preparation.
