Syracuse Just Landed In The Middle Of A Huge O-Line Battle

Sidney Rouleau's recent decommitment from Michigan could be a game-changer for Syracuse's recruiting class as he eyes a potential future with the Orange.

Syracuse football got a little more interesting on the recruiting trail Tuesday, with four-star offensive tackle Sidney Rouleau decommitting from Michigan, according to multiple reports.

Rouleau, a 6-foot-6, 275-pound lineman originally from Gatineau, Quebec, was on campus for an official visit to Syracuse this past weekend. Inside the Loud House reported that visit on Monday, and the connection appears to be real on both sides. Whether that turns into a commitment for the Orange is still up in the air, but the interest between Rouleau and Syracuse’s staff is clearly there.

Rouleau originally gave Michigan a verbal pledge in late March of this year. Syracuse, meanwhile, offered him on March 29, 2024, according to his X page.

The Brook Hill School senior in Bullard, Texas, is viewed differently depending on the service. ESPN has him as a four-star prospect, while other recruiting outlets slot him as a high-three-star player in the 2027 class.

ESPN ranks Rouleau No. 254 nationally, No. 25 among offensive tackles and No. 34 in Texas. The industry-generated 247Sports Composite and the industry-generated Rivals Industry Ranking both place him inside the top 600 nationally among high school seniors.

Rouleau was also among the many recruits at the JMA Wireless Dome on Saturday for Syracuse’s 30-27 comeback win over then-No. 19 SMU. That group included Orange verbal commits as well as targets from several classes.

Syracuse’s 2027 class is already building momentum. The Orange have 25 verbal pledges from high school seniors, including a pair of four-star commits.

Right now, SU’s 2027 group sits at No. 37 nationally in the 247Sports rankings and No. 42 in the 247Sports Composite. Overall, Syracuse’s senior class is No. 44 and No. 11 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The early signing period for high school seniors opens in early December, with the regular signing period following in early February. Third-year head coach Fran Brown has already put together some of the best classes in Orange history, and this one is trending in that direction, too.

Gerry McNamara Just Sent A Clear Message To Two Young Orange Pieces

Syracuses season-opening win over New Haven gave Gerry McNamara an early look at two young pieces who are expected to matter as the year unfolds, and he did not treat their nights the same. Sophomore forward Sadiq White gave the Orange the kind of production the staff has been waiting for, finishing with 14 points and 10 rebounds in a performance McNamara said matched the standard he believes White should bring.

Freshman point guard Ryan Moesch, meanwhile, left a more complicated impression. He did hand out 5 assists, which speaks to the playmaking upside Syracuse saw in him, but McNamara was blunt about the overall showing and made it clear there is still a long way to go. For a team trying to sort out its rotation early, the contrast between Whites steady start and Moeschs rougher debut is the kind of message that can shape the next few weeks. [Read more 🡒]

Syracuse Heads Into Clemson Week With One Big Concern Growing

With Clemson coming to town for homecoming, Syracuse is trying to turn the week into more than just another ACC date on the schedule. Athletic director Brian Blair made the case for a stronger showing at the Dome, a reminder that the atmosphere around a marquee game matters as much as the matchup itself. It comes at a time when the Orange are also managing the usual midseason mix of roster updates and injury questions, with head coach Fran Brown offering a few notes on where things stand.

Brown said quarterback Malachi Nelson is dealing with an ankle injury, while also confirming that Steve Angeli plans to return to college football next season. He also pointed to the addition of Quinn Olcott and kept steering the conversation back to the programs process-oriented growth, which has become a familiar theme in his weekly updates. For Syracuse, the challenge now is less about the noise around the game and more about whether the team can keep building while the stakes around it keep rising. [Read more 🡒]

Syracuse May Have Found The Rebounding Help It Desperately Needed

Syracuses 74-58 win over New Haven offered a much-needed look at what the Orange have been missing on the glass. Gavin Doty and Sadiq White each turned in double-doubles, with Doty finishing with 14 points and 13 rebounds and White adding 14 points and 10 rebounds, a strong showing for a team that has been looking for more consistency in the rebounding department.

Doty and White gave Syracuse a different kind of edge, one built on extra possessions and control around the rim. If that kind of production holds up, it could go a long way toward easing one of the Oranges biggest early concerns, even if the bigger question is whether this was a one-game answer or the start of something more reliable.
