Syracuse basketball has locked in a major late-August official visit with one of the fastest-rising names in the 2027 class.
Ahmed Nur, a five-star power forward/center, will be on campus from August 28 to August 30, according to Rivals. Inside the Loud House had reported late last week that the 6-foot-10 prospect would visit Syracuse, but the dates were still being finalized at the time.
Nur is ranked as a top-25 national prospect in the 2027 cycle and his recruitment has taken off in a big way. He has already taken an official visit to Purdue and an unofficial visit to Minnesota. Rivals also reported that he will officially visit Washington from September 6 to September 8.
The Orange offered Nur a scholarship last month under first-year head coach Gerry McNamara. Before that, Nur turned heads in June when he earned MVP honors at the NBPA Top 100 Camp in Rock Hill, S.C., with McNamara and plenty of other college coaches watching.
His offer sheet is already packed with more than two dozen schools, including BYU, Miami, Rutgers, Kansas, Indiana, Texas, Utah State, Purdue, Florida State, Xavier, Minnesota, UNLV, SMU, Cincinnati, Ole Miss, Alabama, Georgia Tech, Arizona State, West Virginia, Mississippi State, Washington, San Diego State, Penn State, St. Bonaventure, Charlotte, Wake Forest and Providence.
Nur will spend his senior year in 2026-27 at CIA Bella Vista in Phoenix after transferring from Hopkins High School in Minnetonka, Minn. CIA Bella Vista is part of the 15-team Nike Elite Youth Basketball League Scholastic, and it won the high school national title in April at Chipotle Nationals in Fishers, Ind.
He is also playing this summer for the 17U team of Milwaukee-based Power 5 on the Adidas 3SSB circuit. Last weekend, Syracuse’s coaching staff was in Bryan, Texas, during a live period when the Adidas 3SSB league held a session there.
Nur is not the only 2027 target lining up a Syracuse visit. Ian Condon, a four-star power forward, is set to officially visit SU from September 1 to September 2, according to Inside the Loud House. The 6-foot-7, 245-pound Condon attends Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., and plays for the 17U team of Baltimore-based Team Melo in Nike’s EYBL league.
J'Lon Lyons, a four-star point guard from Clinton Grace Christian School in Clinton, Md., will also take an official visit to Syracuse from September 11 to September 13, a source confirmed. The 6-foot-3, 165-pound Lyons plays on the EYBL circuit for D.C.-based Team Takeover.

Kiyan Anthony Sees Early Signs Syracuse's New-Look Roster Can Deliver
The first summer practice session under Gerry McNamara gave Syracuse a chance to start sorting out a roster that looks very different from the one that finished last season. Kiyan Anthony has been in the middle of that early evaluation, and the sophomore guard said the new group has already shown enough in workouts to suggest the Orange may have more than just fresh faces. He pointed to transfer Garwey Duals defensive ability, along with the early impressions made by Gavin Doty, Frances Folefac, Tasman Goodrick, Aiden Tobiason, Luke Wilson, Abdramane Siby and Mark Morano Mahmutovic.
For Anthony, the early returns matter because Syracuse is still in the middle of a reset after the coaching change, and the next stretch of summer work will help define how quickly the pieces fit together. The team has already finished its first practice block and is headed into a two-week break before resuming workouts, giving the newcomers a little time to settle in before the Orange get back to building chemistry and roles. Syracuse Awaits A Massive Recruiting Decision On Familiar Name
Amari Elianos recruiting timeline has turned into a familiar-name story for Syracuse, with the Toledo Central Catholic athlete set to announce his college decision on Aug. 9, which also happens to be his birthday. He has six offers and already made an official visit to Syracuse, where the staff recruited him as a dual-threat athlete and gave him a look at how he could fit into the program.
The Oranges interest carries an obvious family angle, too, since his father, Perry Eliano, recently joined Syracuse as the defensive backs coach. For a program trying to build momentum on the recruiting trail, that connection makes this one worth watching closely, even if the final answer will have to wait a little longer. [Read more 🡒]
Jerami Grant Just Reached A Major Career Crossroads
Jerami Grants latest move has put him in the middle of one of the NBAs more complicated roster situations, and it comes at a time when Memphis is already juggling a crowded roster. The former Syracuse standout arrived in a deal tied to a major shakeup, one that also sent Kris Murray the other way and left the Grizzlies with more bodies than the leagues 15-player limit allows.
For Grant, the immediate question is less about where he has been and more about where he fits next. Memphis has him under contract for the foreseeable future, but the teams roster crunch means his status is anything but settled, and there is still plenty of uncertainty about whether he becomes part of the long-term plan or ends up on the move again.
