Syracuse’s push for 2027 five-star wing/forward Ahmed Nur is picking up speed, and the Orange are getting him on campus sooner than expected.
Nur will start his official visit to Syracuse on Wednesday, a source confirmed to Inside the Loud House on Tuesday afternoon. That trip had originally been slated for August 28.
The 6-foot-9, 190-pound prospect is one of roughly a half-dozen 2027 players Syracuse has identified as a priority target in the high school senior cycle. He landed a scholarship offer from Gerry McNamara’s staff earlier this summer, and his profile surged after he earned MVP honors in June at the NBPA Top 100 Camp in Rock Hill, S.C., with McNamara and other college coaches watching.
Nur, a Minnesota native and former Hopkins High School standout, is coming off an official visit to Ole Miss this past weekend. He has also taken an official visit to Purdue and an unofficial visit to Minnesota. National analyst Sam Kayser reported that Nur’s next official visit is set for Texas beginning September 4.
The interest in Nur has been strong for a while, but his summer stretch made him even harder to ignore. On the Adidas 3SSB circuit with the Milwaukee-based Power 5’s 17U team, he averaged 12.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.9 made 3-pointers per game.
Now he heads into his senior season at CIA Bella Vista in Phoenix, one of the power programs in the 15-team Nike Elite Youth Basketball League Scholastic. The Bears won Chipotle Nationals in Fishers, Ind., this past April, and multiple high school hoops experts have recently told Inside the Loud House that CIA Bella Vista is a major contender to win EYBL Scholastic again and earn a third straight trip to the season-ending Chipotle Nationals.
Syracuse’s staff is also tracking three 2028 prospects on the CIA Bella Vista roster who already hold Orange offers.
Nur is sitting on around 30 scholarship offers, and like plenty of high school seniors, he figures to narrow things down soon. His Syracuse visit could go a long way in clarifying where things stand, and Vanderbilt is another program to keep an eye on, according to the report.
