Syracuse basketball has cracked the top five for one of the more sought-after wings in the 2027 class.
Carson Crawford, a 6-foot-7, 180-pound wing/small forward from Florida, has trimmed his list to five schools, with the Orange joined by Arizona State, Ole Miss, Florida State and Providence, according to national recruiting analysts. Providence is the Big East program that will face Syracuse on Saturday, Dec. 19, at the TD Garden in Boston.
Crawford’s next steps are already coming into focus. Rivals lists official visits coming up to Arizona State and Providence, and he also plans to take an official visit to Syracuse in the fall. Those dates have not been set yet, Inside the Loud House has learned.
Syracuse entered the mix when the new staff under first-year head coach Gerry McNamara offered Crawford a scholarship in late May. His offer sheet has grown into a long one, with schools including Arizona State, Cincinnati, Jacksonville, Virginia Tech, Florida State, Florida A&M, Le Moyne, Florida Atlantic, Georgia, Providence, USF, Texas A&M and Ole Miss all showing interest.
The latest recruiting update comes after Crawford helped lead the Orlando, Fla.-based Florida Rebels to the Peach Jam championship in the main 17U division of Nike’s EYBL league two weekends ago in North Augusta, S.C. In the title game, he played 25 minutes and finished with eight points, six rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal. Across the event, he averaged 7.9 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game while shooting 55.6 percent from the field and 75.0 percent from the free-throw line.
At Fleming Island High School in Fleming Island, Fla., Crawford put up 17.2 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.3 blocks per game as a junior. His team went 23-9 and reached the title encounter of the Florida High School Athletic Association ("FHSAA") Class 5A state playoffs, per MaxPreps.
In the 2027 cycle, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite has Crawford at No. 50 overall, No. 12 among small forwards and No. 11 in Florida. The industry-generated Rivals Industry Ranking puts him at No. 45 nationally, No. 10 at small forward and No. 9 in the Sunshine State.
Syracuse is also lining up other 2027 official visitors. Four-star power forward Ian Condon is set for Sept. 1 to Sept. 2, four-star point guard J'Lon Lyons has a visit scheduled, and five-star wing/forward Ahmed Nur is slated to be on the Hill from Aug. 28 to Aug. 30.
