Syracuse football has made an early impression on one of the country’s most coveted 2028 running backs, and the competition is already fierce.
Noble Williams, a 6-foot, 203-pound four-star back from Alexandria, La., is drawing attention from major ACC and SEC programs, but the Orange are among the schools standing out to him in the opening stretch of his recruitment. Williams picked up a scholarship offer from Syracuse in February and then made an unofficial visit to campus in March during spring practice.
Williams has said in interviews that he loves Syracuse University and the environment there, and he's forming a strong bond with the SU football staff, led by running backs coach Dennis Thomas. Williams is discussing a game-day visit to the Orange this fall, although nothing has been finalized at this point, Inside the Loud House has learned.
His offer list already reads like a national recruiting map. Beyond Syracuse, Williams has been offered by Alabama, Florida State, Houston, Iowa State, LSU, Tennessee, Texas, UTSA, Louisiana Tech, Tulane, Lamar, Mississippi State and Miami, according to his Instagram page and recruiting services.
Among the schools that are currently making the strongest push, Syracuse is in the mix with Tennessee, LSU, Florida State, Auburn and Miami, creating a crowded race for the Orange staff.
Williams is ranked as a top-10 running back and top-200 overall prospect in the 2028 class by 247Sports. The industry-generated 247Sports Composite has him at No. 238 nationally, No. 16 at running back and No. 4 in Louisiana. Within the 2028 class, , which places him at No. 154 overall, No. 10 at running back and No. 3 in Louisiana.
On the field, Williams will be a junior at Alexandria Senior High School in the 2026 season. As a sophomore in 2025, he ran for 662 yards and six touchdowns on 123 carries, added six catches for 45 yards and chipped in 122 kickoff return yards. Alexandria finished 9-3 last season, and Williams missed several games because of an injury.
