Cash Patrick’s recruitment keeps picking up, and Syracuse is now part of the mix for the 2028 Celina (OH) High offensive lineman.
Patrick already has double-digit offers, with schools such as Boston College, Pittsburgh, Purdue and Virginia Tech among the programs that have jumped in early. Syracuse is one of his newer offers, and it left a strong impression.
"I thought the Cuse offer was amazing,” Patrick said to The Juice Online. “Blessed to get it.”
The offer came from Syracuse assistant coach Tony Giovagnoli, and Patrick had plenty of positive things to say about that conversation as well.
"I think Tony is amazing person and awesome to talk to,” Patrick said. "I can tell he is good friends with everyone.”
Their discussion went beyond the offer itself and touched on Syracuse, its program history and what the Orange has built up front. Patrick noted the school’s track record of developing offensive linemen for the next level, pointing to Matthew Bergeron, who was a second round pick from the NFL Atlanta Falcons in 2023 and recently signed a long-term contract extension.
They also talked about the culture Fran Brown has been building since arriving two seasons ago, with the Syracuse coach emphasizing D.A.R.T. - detailed, accountable, relentless, tough.
“We spoke about the school and their practice field,” Patrick said. “And how they run things there.”
Patrick also learned more about who would coach his position if he ended up in Orange. Syracuse hired Juan Castillo in the offseason, and the veteran offensive line coach brings more than 40 years of experience across the NFL and college ranks.
The Orange aren’t the only program in the picture. Patrick’s list of offers also includes Toledo, Miami (OH), Connecticut, Bowling Green and Kent State. Even with all that attention, he said he’s still early in the process and wants to take his time before making any decisions.
Still, a few schools are separating themselves for now.
“Syracuse, UConn and VT are some big ones,” Patrick said.
Patrick isn’t just making noise on the recruiting trail. He’s also been a key part of Celina’s quick start, as the team has opened 3-0 in the competitive Western Buckeye Conference.
And on the field, he knows exactly what kind of player he is.
"I am rough, tough, lineman,” Patrick said. "I love to but people in the ground and making my team a lot better."

A familiar name is back on Syracuses recruiting radar, and this time the Orange get a real chance to make their case at home. Arthur Jones IV, a four-star defensive lineman in the 2028 class and one of Syracuse footballs top local priorities, is set to come back for multiple games during the 2026 season, including the opener against New Hampshire. The Christian Brothers Academy junior has already built a long offer sheet, but Syracuse has been in the mix since extending an offer in June 2025.
For Syracuse, the appeal goes beyond the rankings. Jones grew up in the city and carries a family tie that already makes every step of his recruitment feel personal, with his father, former Syracuse standout Arthur Jones III, having passed away in October 2025. Getting him on campus for several games gives the Orange an extended runway to show him what the program, the atmosphere and the community can mean, and it keeps one of the areas most talented prospects close to home for now.
