Syracuse Football Lands Two Key Visits From Rising Star DJ Davis

Syracuse football continues to prioritize rising Delaware standout DJ Davis, as the 3-star All-State defensive back lines up key spring and official visits.

DJ Davis is making Syracuse football a regular stop on his recruiting tour-and it’s easy to see why the Orange are rolling out the welcome mat.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound athlete out of Middletown High School in Delaware is a rising star in the 2027 class, and he's already got a strong connection with the Orange. After attending a junior day event at the JMA Wireless Dome back in January, Davis has two more visits on deck-one during spring practices on March 30 and an official visit locked in for June 12-14.

This isn’t just a casual flirtation. Syracuse was the first program to offer Davis a scholarship, all the way back in March 2024.

That early belief seems to have stuck with him. Since then, his offer list has exploded to 18 schools, including Power Five programs like Penn State, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Kentucky, and West Virginia, just to name a few.

But the Orange have stayed in the mix, and Davis keeps showing up in Central New York.

Davis is a true two-way standout at Middletown. He helped lead the Cavaliers to a 10-3 record and their second straight DIAA 3A state title in 2025.

On both sides of the ball, he’s been a difference-maker-earning All-Conference honors as a wide receiver and defensive back, and landing All-State recognition on defense. He’s also a three-sport athlete, competing in basketball and track, and he carries a 3.3 GPA.

That’s the kind of all-around profile that catches the eye of college coaches across the country.

The recruiting services are taking notice, too. According to the 247Sports Composite, Davis ranks No. 444 nationally, No. 30 among athletes, and No. 2 in the state of Delaware. Rivals lists him at No. 504 overall and No. 69 among wide receivers, also slotting him second in the state.

Davis isn’t just a name on a list-he’s a tone-setter. A team captain.

A state champion. And he’s part of a Middletown program that’s starting to turn heads beyond Delaware’s borders.

His teammate, BJ Garrett, a three-star wide receiver, is already part of Syracuse’s 2026 class, which is shaping up to be one of the strongest in program history. That connection certainly doesn’t hurt Syracuse’s chances.

With multiple visits lined up and a long-standing relationship with the Orange coaching staff, including head coach Fran Brown and assistants like Matt Guerrieri and D.J. Eliot, Syracuse is clearly in the thick of Davis’ recruitment. And while there’s still a long way to go before the 2027 signing class takes shape, Davis’ continued interest in the program is a good sign for the Orange.

For now, all eyes will be on March 30 and that official visit in June. If Syracuse can keep building momentum with Davis, they might just land one of the most versatile and electric athletes in the Northeast.
