Syracuse Football Lands in Final Five for Rising Pennsylvania Star Receiver

Syracuse continues to make waves on the recruiting trail as it lands in the final five for a touted Pennsylvania wide receiver in the Class of 2027.

Syracuse Makes Final Five for Elite 2027 WR Javien Robinson

Syracuse football is firmly in the mix for one of the top wideouts in the 2027 class. Javien Robinson, a dynamic two-way athlete out of McKeesport (PA), has trimmed his list to five schools - and the Orange made the cut.

At 6-foot-1, 189 pounds, Robinson brings a versatile skill set to the field, lining up at both wide receiver and cornerback for a McKeesport team that’s been a hotbed of talent. He’s also the teammate of four-star running back Kemon Spell, who was once on Syracuse’s radar before committing to Georgia. Now, it’s Robinson who holds center stage, and the Orange are battling it out with Miami, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, and West Virginia - a group of former Big East foes - for his commitment.

So what’s drawing Robinson to Syracuse?

“The love from the offensive staff is great,” he said, specifically pointing to wide receivers coach Josh Gattis. “Gattis has a strong message about the talent he coached and produced, and that he can take my talent to the next level and have me play to the best of my ability.”

That kind of connection matters in today’s recruiting landscape, especially when you're trying to land a player with Robinson’s pedigree. He’s a two-time All-Conference selection with a growing national profile. While recruiting services differ on his star rating, the talent is undeniable.

Rivals and ESPN currently view Robinson as a three-star prospect, ranking him No. 16 in Pennsylvania and No. 62 among wide receivers nationally. Meanwhile, 247Sports is much higher on him, giving him a four-star grade, slotting him at No. 8 in the state and No. 21 at his position.

Robinson already made visits to West Virginia and Rutgers before the recruiting dead period began. He also took in the atmosphere at the JMA Wireless Dome when Syracuse hosted Boston College to close out the 2025 season - a visit that clearly left an impression.

Now, the Orange are hoping to land their first four-star commitment in the 2027 class, with Robinson and four-star cornerback Bryce Williams both firmly on the radar. Even without a blue-chip commit just yet, Syracuse is off to a strong start in the cycle. With eight three-star pledges already on board, the Orange currently boast the seventh-best recruiting class in the country.

For a program looking to build sustained success under a new regime, locking in a playmaker like Robinson could be a key step. The competition is stiff - these are all programs with strong regional ties and recruiting chops - but Syracuse is very much in the hunt.
