Syracuse Builds Key Connection With Rising 2027 Linebacker Prospect

Despite a growing list of offers, a young linebackers early bond with Syracuses new defensive coordinator could shape where his recruitment is headed.

Syracuse Made the First Move on 2027 LB Noah Renes - Now the Nation Is Catching On

When Syracuse extended a scholarship offer to 2027 linebacker Noah Renes back in February, it was a forward-thinking move that put the Orange ahead of the curve. Fast forward to the end of the year, and Renes now holds 21 offers from programs across the country - including heavyweights like Oklahoma and Ole Miss, both of whom are in this year’s College Football Playoff. That’s a serious rise for a player who, despite the growing attention, still isn’t ranked by 247Sports.

But rankings don’t always tell the full story - and Renes is starting to write his own. The Florida native recently earned an invite to the Under Armour Next Camp Series in Orlando on February 22, a showcase that features some of the top high school talent in the country. That’s the kind of stage where unranked prospects turn into household names.

Renes’ connection with Syracuse runs deeper than just an early offer. It started during his time at Viera High School in Florida, where SU general manager Thomas Caporale made in-person visits during both his freshman and sophomore years. The offer eventually came over the phone, but the groundwork had already been laid.

He made the trip up to Syracuse on June 20, during a 7-on-7 event hosted by the program. That visit turned into more than just a campus tour - Renes sat in on team meetings, watched practice, and had face time with head coach Fran Brown.

“I got to meet with all the coaches and see practice and that was really cool,” Renes said.

Since then, his communication with the Orange has continued. He’s spoken with Coach Brown and also with former SU linebackers coach Robert Wright. Renes holds Brown in high regard, calling him a “great coach,” and also has a connection to current defensive coordinator Vince Kehres, who offered him back when Kehres was still at Toledo.

“I love his values,” Renes said of Kehres. “Even when we went out for practice, he’s doing everything the players are.

He’s spreading around through all the stations. What he says, like he really lives.”

There’s also a player-to-player connection here. Renes has a relationship with Syracuse freshman Demetres Samuel Jr., a two-way player who once tried to recruit Renes back when they were both in high school. The two have kept in touch, speaking a few times since.

This fall, Renes was on the move, making the rounds on gameday visits. He checked out UCF, Florida State, Miami, Auburn, Georgia, Ole Miss, Indiana, and Oklahoma - a who’s who of college football programs. In the coming months, he plans to attend Kansas’ junior day as his recruitment continues to unfold.

For now, Renes is in no rush to trim his list of 21 offers. He hasn’t received a new one since early November and admitted that things have been “underwhelming” lately on the recruiting front. But that doesn’t mean interest is fading - it just means the next phase is coming into focus.

Renes now attends Niceville High School after transferring due to a family situation. Despite missing four games this past season with a hand injury, he still posted around 60 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, and six sacks - numbers that speak to his impact when he’s on the field.

The production is there. The offers are piling up.

And the exposure is only growing. For a player like Noah Renes, the recruiting journey is just getting started - and Syracuse can say it was first in line.
