Syracuse basketball’s staff had a front-row seat to Ian Condon’s latest statement game, and the 4-star DMV big man made it count.
Condon, a 6-foot-7, 245-pound recruit in the 2027 class, has been on the Orange radar since receiving a scholarship offer in May from first-year head coach Gerry McNamara and his staff. This weekend in Las Vegas, he kept building his case in Nike’s EYBL circuit during a live period, with Syracuse coaches and SU legend Carmelo Anthony among the many college observers watching.
Playing for the Baltimore-based Team Melo’s 17U squad, Condon has been one of the more productive names on the floor. Team Melo is 11-5 overall in the current AAU season and went 4-1 this weekend in Las Vegas. Condon has averaged 18.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game this weekend while shooting 43.1 percent from the field, 39.4 percent from 3-point range and 90.9 percent from the free-throw line.
Over the full EYBL season since late April, his numbers are just as strong: 18.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.1 steals per game, with shooting splits of 44.5 percent from the field, 40.8 percent from deep and 83.0 percent at the line.
Condon’s game has clearly traveled well against top competition. He’s shown movement shooting, rebounding in traffic and a feel for the game that keeps popping in front of college coaches. One evaluation from the weekend called out exactly that blend, noting his consistency and effort in a 26-point, 11-rebound outing against Nightrydas.
The interest around him is already broad and should only keep expanding. According to recruiting services, his scholarship offers include N.C. State, Boston College, Belmont, Siena, UCF, Saint Joseph's, Virginia Tech, American, Villanova, California, Notre Dame and Northwestern.
At Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., Condon put together a strong junior season as well, averaging 20.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 1.0 blocks per game, per MaxPreps. The Quakers finished 22-7 and won a fifth straight Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament title.
For now, Condon’s highest 2027 national ranking comes from 247Sports, which has him at No. 91.
But after this spring and summer run in grassroots hoops, he looks positioned to rise into the top 100 across the major services, with a move into the top 50 not out of the question. One of his Sidwell Friends teammates, 2028 point guard Jadah Washington, is also drawing interest from Syracuse’s new staff.

Syracuse Has One More Major Recruiting Test Before This Class Feels Real
Elijah Kimbles commitment gave Syracuse another important piece in its 2027 recruiting class, and it came with the kind of regional boost the Orange have been trying to stack up. The four-star running back from Buffalo gives the staff another high-end in-state name to sell, joining a group that already includes four-star prospects Jalen Welch and Chanin Harris among 24 verbal pledges.
Even with that volume, the class still has one more test before it starts to feel fully formed. Amari Eliano, a defensive back and wide receiver from Toledo, took an official visit to Syracuse and picked up a scholarship offer, leaving the Orange in the mix for a prospect with ties that make the pursuit especially notable for the staff and the fan base. Syracuse QB Recruiting Push Just Made Another Encouraging Impression
Brailon Davis has already become a name worth tracking in Syracuses quarterback recruiting efforts. The 2028 quarterback from Arlington Mansfield Summit High picked up an early scholarship offer from the Orange in May, then got a closer look at campus in June when he met with quarterbacks coach Sean Ryan and offensive coordinator Charlie Brewer, toured the facilities and spent time talking through how he could fit into the program.
For a young passer still early in his recruitment, that kind of visit can matter just as much as the offer itself. Davis came away with a strong interest in Syracuse after the trip, and his profile is easy to understand: athletic, vocal and confident in the leadership traits he believes will carry him at the next level. The Orange have made an impression early, and now the more interesting question is how far that connection can go as his recruiting starts to build. [Read more 🡒]
Several Former Syracuse Players Are Fighting For Early Summer League Momentum
The Summer League calendar in Las Vegas is giving Syracuse fans a quick look at a familiar collection of names, with at least seven former Orange players scattered across different NBA rosters from July 9 to July 19. The first round of games already offered a little bit of everything from the group, from brief cameos to defensive flashes and a few uneven shooting nights, the sort of early-summer mix that usually says more about opportunity than it does about a players long-term outlook.
For Syracuse followers, the appeal is in watching who can turn those first runs into something steadier as the schedule moves on. Some of the former Orange have already gotten on the floor and others are still waiting for their chance, and with more games ahead for the teams carrying them, the next few days should help clarify which of these ex-players are building real momentum and which ones are still searching for it.
