Khalil Taylor, an electrifying wide receiver from Pennsylvania, is making waves as one of the top recruits in the 2027 class. Recently, he narrowed down his choices to six schools, with Syracuse football emerging as a strong contender.
Joining the Orange in his top picks are Ohio State, Georgia, Nebraska, Penn State, and Colorado. Taylor, standing at 6-foot and weighing 180 pounds, has already made a name for himself as an All-American during his junior year.
Syracuse fans have reason to be hopeful, as Taylor plans an official visit to the university from June 19 to June 21. There's even buzz about a possible visit during the team's spring practices, showcasing Syracuse's serious interest. Back in January, defensive assistant coach Dre Kates made the trip to see Taylor, who received his scholarship offer from Syracuse in May 2024.
Taylor shines at Pine-Richland High School in Gibsonia, near Pittsburgh, where he helped lead his team to an impressive 11-2 record and a spot in the WPIAL Class 5A championship game. His junior season was nothing short of spectacular, earning him All-America first-team honors as a return specialist, along with Class 5A All-State and Player of the Year accolades in Pennsylvania.
His versatility on the field is astounding. In 2025, Taylor racked up 571 receiving yards, 70 rushing yards, and a jaw-dropping 24 touchdowns.
His special teams stats are equally impressive, with 200 yards from five punts, 362 yards from seven kickoff returns, and 408 yards from 21 punt returns. Defensively, he added 14 solo tackles, three interceptions, and a sack to his resume.
Despite a previous commitment to Penn State, Taylor reopened his recruitment, with the Nittany Lions still in the hunt under new head coach Matt Campbell. Syracuse isn't just eyeing Taylor; they're also hosting Tristin Hughes, another 2027 four-star athlete from Ohio, who has reopened his recruitment after initially committing to Syracuse.
With these top prospects considering Syracuse, the Orange are poised to make a significant impact in the recruiting landscape.
