2028 ATH Julian Corry is already turning heads in New Jersey, and Syracuse is in the mix early.
The Burlington (NJ) City High standout checks in at 6-foot-8 and 205 pounds, bringing a rare blend of size and two-sport production. He’s made his name on the hardwood and the football field, and the Orange were first to extend an offer in football back in May.
Corry will get a closer look at Syracuse in September, when he plans to be on campus for the Orange’s opener against New Hampshire. For him, the visit is about more than just seeing a game.
"I'm very appreciative and excited to be offered by a program like Syracuse,” Corry said to The Juice Online. "They are definitely a program on the rise and I’m excited to get on campus and meet the staff in person.”
A big part of that staff interaction will be his first chance to spend time around head coach Fran Brown. Brown, a Camden, NJ native, has built a reputation as one of the best recruiters in the state, and Corry is already familiar with that track record.
"I’ve heard great things about coach Brown,” Corry said. "He’s a Jersey guy and always does a great job recruiting his home state.”
Syracuse has leaned hard into New Jersey recruiting under Brown, targeting not just the biggest names but also prospects who may still be climbing the board. Corry sees that approach clearly.
"As an NJ guy, I think it’s really cool that coach Brown recruits NJ the way he does,” Corry said. "He knows firsthand how good the football is in NJ and I’m excited to prove him right.”
That September trip will also give Corry a chance to take in the campus environment and better understand life at Syracuse beyond football.
"I’m really looking forward to continue to build a relationship with the coaching staff as well as the players on the team,” Corry said.
On the basketball court, Corry has already shown the kind of length and activity that makes him such a unique football prospect. In his sophomore season, he was one of the top players in his conference, posting 11 mpg, 9 mpg and 3 bpg. His rim protection stands out, but he says the sport has also sharpened his football game.
"Basketball has really helped my versatility as a football player,” Corry said. "I’m a guy with a longer frame and basketball has helped me get comfortable with my footwork and I’m seeing that translate over into my pass rush moves, route running and just as an overall football player.”
At Syracuse, Corry is being recruited as an ATH, though he currently projects as an EDGE at the college level. He knows he’s still developing there, but his traits give him a strong foundation.
"I’m still relatively new to the position but I use my speed and length to my advantage.”
