4-Star PG Ryan Moesch Reopens Recruitment

Former Chittenango standout Ryan Moesch explores new opportunities after Siena release, fueling speculation about his next move.

In a surprising twist for college basketball fans, Siena recruit Ryan Moesch has been released from his letter of intent following Gerry McNamara’s departure. This development, reported by college basketball insider Adam Zagoria, opens up new possibilities for Moesch, particularly the chance to follow McNamara to Syracuse.

Moesch, a standout point guard from Cushing Academy in Massachusetts, was initially drawn to Siena by McNamara’s recruiting prowess and the opportunity for early playing time. Ranked as a four-star recruit by some and a three-star by others, Moesch is a highly regarded prospect, sitting at No. 156 in the 247 Sports Composite rankings and as high as No. 141 in other evaluations.

Growing up in Chittenango, Moesch made waves as the school’s all-time leading scorer, even scoring a state-best 763 points in just 21 games during his junior year. His decision to attend prep school for two seasons allowed him to reclassify and refine his game against tougher competition.

With Syracuse currently lacking freshman commitments for the upcoming season, McNamara hinted on ESPN Radio Syracuse that new faces are expected on the roster. This aligns perfectly with Moesch’s release, fueling speculation about his potential move to Syracuse.

The Orange has roster space available following the departure of players like JJ Starling, Will Kyle III, and Bryce Zephir, making it a prime destination for recruits like Moesch. As the offseason progresses, expect more shifts as players and coaches navigate the ever-changing landscape of college basketball.
