The Cardinals’ post-All-Star stumble has left them searching for answers, and the help on the way from the minors looks limited. After back-to-back series losses marked by epic collapses, St.
Louis was flat in its return to Busch Stadium and now heads into a run of NL Central matchups against the Reds and Cubs with little momentum to lean on. Even after a lineup change, the offense didn’t get going, and the organization’s farm system does not appear ready to provide much immediate relief.
That doesn’t mean Memphis has been quiet. A few roster moves there could still ripple up to the 26-man roster later on, even if the impact is more about depth than instant fixes.
Ramon Urias is finally back on the field in a meaningful way. The 32-year-old infielder, who was signed for infield depth in the offseason, has been sidelined since May 5 and had his rehab delayed since early June.
Now healthy enough to test the elbow again, Urias is set to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Memphis this weekend. With the trade deadline close, there may not be enough time for him to make a case for a contender, and any return to St.
Louis would be aimed more at helping his next contract than changing the Cardinals’ current picture.

Yohel Pozo’s time in the Cardinals organization ended when Baltimore claimed him off waivers. St.
Louis had needed to clear room after adding Scott Blewett, and Pozo became the odd man out as the catcher lowest on the organizational depth chart. The Cardinals were hoping he would pass through waivers and head back to Memphis, but the Orioles’ catching injuries created a timely opening, and Baltimore took advantage.
Pozo will now report to the Orioles’ Triple-A club with the goal of getting back to the big leagues later this season.

Blewett, meanwhile, is out of the organization after a very short stay. He was brought in when JoJo Romero went down and gave the Cardinals one day of bullpen help, throwing two scoreless innings with two strikeouts and two walks before being designated for assignment. Because he had already used his opt-out clause earlier in the week, there could be interest in him before he reaches waivers, and Chaim Bloom could still land cash or a player to be named later instead of losing him for nothing.
Ian Bedell is also moving on. The 2020 Missouri State draftee has been granted his release while working back from injury after spending the last three seasons in Memphis.
The right-hander showed strikeout ability in the minors, but command has been a major problem, including 69 walks in 113.1 innings at Triple-A. He had also struggled to keep the ball in the park.
Bedell had been on the injured list since May and will now look for another organization willing to work through his mechanics.

Nolan Gorman and Victor Scott II were supposed to be part of the Cardinals next wave, the kind of young bats that could help steady the lineup while the club sorted out its long-term picture. Instead, both were pushed out of the majors during the 2026 season after underperforming at the plate, and each has spent time trying to reset in Triple-A with the hope of forcing his way back into the conversation.
Gormans path has been especially uneven, with a brief stop in the Florida Complex League before he moved up to Triple-A to work on his swing.
