Dylan Holloway is set to make his return to the lineup Sunday night, and the timing couldn’t be more fitting - he’ll be suiting up against his former team, the Edmonton Oilers. Puck drops at 7 p.m. local time, and the game will be broadcast on FanDuel Sports Network and 101 ESPN.
Holloway has been sidelined since mid-December after suffering an ankle injury during practice. The setback landed him on injured reserve on Dec. 15, forcing him to miss 15 games. But now, the young forward is cleared and ready to rejoin a Blues squad still trying to find its stride.
Head Coach Jim Montgomery confirmed ahead of the game that Holloway will be in the lineup, giving St. Louis a needed boost as they begin a crucial stretch leading into the All-Star break.
“This year, as a team, it hasn't been the start that we wanted,” Holloway acknowledged. “But there's a lot of good things we can learn from and I think we're still in it.
Just going to try to keep building. I think we have eight games left before the break, so those eight games will be huge and then a big push after the break.”
Holloway’s return adds a layer of intrigue to an already meaningful matchup. Facing the team that drafted him, on their home ice, gives this game a little extra edge. But more importantly, his presence gives the Blues another versatile option as they look to generate momentum heading into the second half of the season.
Montgomery also confirmed that Jordan Binnington will get the start in goal for St. Louis. The veteran netminder has been a steady presence between the pipes this season and will look to hold off a high-powered Edmonton offense.
The Blues held an optional morning skate at Rogers Place earlier in the day. Final line combinations and defensive pairings will be revealed at warmups, but Holloway’s return is already a storyline worth watching as St. Louis looks to make the most of these next eight games before the break.
