Dalibor Dvorsky is turning heads at the Winter Olympics, carving his name into the history books with two remarkable records.
In Slovakia's commanding 6-2 victory over Germany, the St. Louis Blues forward notched a goal and an assist, bringing his tournament tally to six points (3 goals, 3 assists). This achievement sets a new benchmark for NHL rookies and eclipses any previous performance by a Blues player in a single Olympic event.
Dvorsky's early assist broke a four-way tie, surpassing former Blues players Alexander Steen (2014, Sweden), David Backes (2014, USA), and Scott Young (2002, USA), each of whom had four points in their respective Olympic appearances.
His second-period goal was the icing on the cake, pushing him past the previous NHL rookie record of five points, held by Sami Vatanen (2014, Finland), Olli Maata (2014, Finland), and Alex Ovechkin (2006, Russia).
At just 20 years old, Dvorsky has managed to score in every game of the tournament, making him the second-youngest player to achieve a four-game point streak in an Olympics featuring NHL talent. Only Evgeni Malkin, who was 19 in 2006, was younger when he accomplished a similar feat.
With Wednesday's win, Team Slovakia advances to the next round, securing their shot at a medal with the semifinals looming on Friday. Dvorsky's performance has not only been a highlight for his team but a standout moment of the entire Olympic Games.
