The return of NHL players to the Winter Olympics has brought a thrilling display of talent, and the St. Louis Blues are right in the mix. Jordan Binnington kicked things off with a stellar shutout for Team Canada, setting the stage for their quarterfinal clash against Czechia.
But it's rookie Dalibor Dvorsky who's stealing the spotlight. According to a recent post from the team, Dvorsky has etched his name in the history books, claiming the record for the most points by an NHL rookie in a single Olympic tournament. Not only that, but he also holds the record for the most points by a Blues player in Olympic history.
Dvorsky's been on fire, racking up six points with three goals and three assists. He was instrumental in Slovakia's 6-2 win over Germany in the quarterfinals, contributing a goal and an assist.
Drafted tenth overall by the Blues in 2023, Dvorsky spent most of the 2024-25 season honing his skills with the Springfield Thunderbirds in the AHL. Though he only played two NHL games that year without scoring, he's made a significant impact this season. In 47 games with the Blues, he's netted nine goals and six assists.
The Olympics have been a showcase for NHL talent. Before Canada's game against Czechia, Connor McDavid was leading the tournament with nine points. Impressively, all top ten point scorers in the tournament are NHL players, including Dvorsky and his Slovakian teammate, Juraj Slafkovsky.
As Dvorsky, Slafkovsky, and Team Slovakia await their semifinal opponent, the excitement continues to build. This Olympic run is shaping up to be a memorable chapter for these young stars and the NHL at large.
